Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Glassman.
Originally an east coast native, Taylor moved to Los Angeles over 3 1/2 years ago and hasn’t looked back since. Moving here, she had plans to pursue her professional dance career but found along the way Music Photography was her true calling.
Growing up, Taylor always had a special bond with music. In her angsty teen years, she began shooting rock bands at Warped Tour. “I was bullied in high school for being different. The way I dressed. The music I listened to. The way I wasn’t afraid to express myself on social media. Rock concerts were an escape for me during that period of time. Whenever I would go to a live show, I would feel excepted and comfortable in my own skin.”
Taylor now currently tours as a photographer with a band called Sleeptalk and has had opportunities to photograph for some of her all-time favorite bands such as A Day To Remember, Mayday Parade and Circa Survive to name a few. “It’s crazy because I grew up listening to these bands and now I am actually standing in front of them with my very own camera. It’s the coolest thing.”
Has it been a smooth road?
The pop-punk/rock music industry is mostly male-dominated. Being a female has had its challenges. People have doubted me at first glance because I am a female and most music photographers are male. My hope is to break the mold.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I started my own freelance business named after me “Taylor Brielle Photo.” I specialize in music photography, but I also do portrait and lifestyle photography, as well. I refuse to put myself in a box. I consider myself a versatile photographer and I think that’s what sets me apart from others.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite memory from my childhood was probably moving to New York City after graduating high school. I was 17 years old. My wanderlust personality couldn’t stand being in that small town mindset.I found roommates on Craigslist and moved out. I didn’t go to college right out of high school. I spent most of my days adventuring around the city and discovered a lot about myself and a lot about adulthood during that whole process. It was a good thing for me.
