Meet Taryn Rothstein of Pasadena Charm in Pasadena

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taryn Rothstein.

Taryn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am the Social Media Strategist and the Story-Teller behind Pasadena Charm. I love creating content that resonates, inspires and I am very excited to be sharing my story with you again. I grew my Instagram account @pasadenacharm and Blog over the last six years with a lot of passion for my community and pride myself on creating content that is unique and curated both for my brand as well as my clients. Since my last Voyage LA interview my brand has shifted to speaking events with a passion to share, consult and manage social media for start-ups and local brands.

In February of this year, I had an amazing opportunity to share my social media expertise with 850 realtors at a conference in Long Beach just before COVID 19 got serious and TikTok Boomed. Of course, I had to add a little charm while highlighting the importance of being creative in those in-between moments. I was that girl, telling everyone about TikTok, the same way I did about Instagram back in 2013 when I started Pasadena Charm.

Has it been a smooth road?
Building my team and finding people I could trust has been challenging and rewarding. As a small start-up business, I did not have the funds to hire employees and would do most of the content creation myself. I went through a number of interns before I found one to hire as a self contractor to help me on a needed basis. I find joy in paying her and other creators to work on my team. I have a well-rounded list of photographers, videographers, event planners, and writers I can count on to hire for projects and campaigns. It took me a few years and a few bad apples to find my dream team.

My biggest challenge during COVID -19 is juggling it all as a mom… again! I had it pretty dialed in with my son attending 1st grade. This allowed me all the time I needed to meet with clients and work on building my brand. I just signed with an Influencer Management in January so I was working on consistent campaigns too. Now, I’m homeschooling my 7-year-old and I don’t have direct access to my dream team due to social distancing however I have started teaching social media workshops and consulting with clients on ZOOM which has kept me busy.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Pasadena Charm – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I created and allowed social media to fit who I am. I searched for products and services which fit (my rhythm) and I brought in my passions. Movement is important to me, I brought my dance training to enhance some of the products which have done really well. Platforms like TikTok that inspire movement and music is magical. I’ve used dance and sound to show the beauty of the city of Pasadena. Videos and the products I endorse set me apart. College years and a communication degree gave me the confidence that I could go for this dream job. Even the struggles were valuable. Learning is constant and the potential for growth is limitless.

I was drawn to social media at a time when I needed to reach out personally to other women also needing contact; new moms, creative, stay at home, and entrepreneurial women. With that premise, I jumped in. I never looked back, I knew this was a space where I could make a difference in my life and offer what I learned to others.

Today I am offering an exclusive virtual class to help my followers get started on TikTok! Sharing the tips and tricks I’ve learned, along with the best practices I received directly from the TikTok HQ. I’m so hyped to see all the TikTok love happening on Instagram and across the world especially during this time of quarantine! If you’re nervous about TikTok remember it’s about having FUN! This app is allowing people to be real, raw and ultimately be people again. Unlike your Instagram feed which is filled with beautiful, staged images this is all fun. We can all use laughs in our life! Whether you’re creating the content or consuming it, or a little bit of both (which I suggest), get yourself on TikTok. I’ll see you there – @Taryn

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
LA is the City of Stars and an amazing place to pursue your dreams. Don’t give up! It took me years of different jobs and attempts to finally figure out my purpose. Last year I got to Follow The WESCOM Float to the 131st Rose Parade and share all the charming updates and progress of the float as it got decorated, judged, and viewed after the parade. It was such a magical moment one could only experience in Pasadena.
