Meet Tara Kohanim of Healthy Life by Tara in Calabasas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Kohanim.

Tara, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Studying psychology at UCLA was an incredible experience where I learned so much in the subject I felt so passionately about. Graduating with an undergraduate degree in a subject that I didn’t know how to apply to a desired career, I began researching new fields that I could tie in with psychology. That is when I found the field of nutrition.

I began studying at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in earns of becoming a Holistic Health Coach. I have created a successful health coaching practice to teach others how to truly nourish their bodies coaching private clients from ages as young as seven years old! I am now able to apply my love for psychology in combination with my knowledge of nutrition and healthy eating to help clients create their desired life. With a simple decision to step up, commit, and be willing to change your story and create a brand new one, I can help you start!

Has it been a smooth road?
I’ve always been the type of person to have a vision and drive to accomplish what I want. Being dedicated and focused in my studies as a psychology major at UCLA and graduating with accelerating grades was an amazing accomplishment. Once graduation was over, I found myself burnt out, with no plan and or desire to move forward. For the first time in my life that fire in me was gone and I felt stuck. That’s when I found the health coaching field and was able to get right back up. Exploring this new field and creating a new vision to guide others towards living their best lives made me feel as if I had a purpose in life again.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Healthy Life by Tara story. Tell us more about the business.
As your health coach, I am your supportive mentor and wellness authority here to help you feel your best through individualized food and lifestyle changes that meet your unique needs and health goals. I provide my services in private coaching practices with one-on-one coaching programs personalized to your needs. Health coaching isn’t about one diet or one way of living. Instead, I focus on bio-individuality – the idea that we’re all different and have unique dietary, lifestyles, emotional, and physical needs. This means that I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to health and wellness. Instead, I work with you to help you discover how to fuel your body and become the healthiest, happiest version of yourself through a holistic approach. I also emphasize holistic health beyond the plate. At the core of the Integrative Nutrition curriculum I have been taught, is the idea that there are areas of your life that impact your long-term health just as much as the food you eat. These include emotional health, relationships, career, spirituality, and physical activity.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see the field of health coaching adding value to the community continuously as it expands through the next ten years because of the importance of mental and physical health. Helping families make healthy choices with their emotions as well as their food is one step towards making our society a better place.
