Meet Tara Casares

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Casares.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tara. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My father has been a State Farm Agent for 32 years and I guess you can say, I was raised in the State Farm family. Growing up, we spent a lot of time at my dad’s office and with other State Farm Agents and their families. During summers I would go into the office and help with small tasks around the office – billing, mailers, filing (when paper files were still around) and marketing. After high school, I went off to Loyola Marymount University, where I studied English Literature. I planned on applying to graduate programs, but a mentor insisted I go out into the world first to get “real world’ experience and build up my resume. Not knowing what I wanted to do, I turned to State Farm and was hired on as a college intern. I quickly made friends with other interns and spent time with different Agents. I absolutely loved the company culture and, after a few months, it became clear to me that I loved being out in the workforce, developing new skills and learning to work with people of different backgrounds.

Continuing my path with State Farm, I went into the claim’s world and was a claim’s adjuster for three years, where I was able to help navigate hundreds of loyal client’s through their claim and turn a bad situation into a more positive experience. This position allowed me to deliver on the promise that so many Agents were out selling and to really understand what it meant to be properly protected. I became intrigued by the idea of guiding customers throughout the somewhat confusing world of insurance and helping them to put a plan in place to secure their future. From claim’s I went on to work as an Agency trainer, where I worked with all of the new Agent’s in our Western Market Area and later went on to manage my dad’s Agency for three years.

During this time, I was able to spend my time working directly with client’s, identifying their goals, uncovering gaps and helping to implement protection to fill these gaps. I loved educating my clients and giving them peace of mind. After three years, I made the decision to open my own State Farm Agency in the Los Feliz area and immerse myself in the local community. I officially opened April 1st, 2018 and have been working to grow and develop my team. Our mission is to truly get to know our State Farm customers, understand their needs and provide them with guidance that eases their worries and allows them to focus on their goals and dreams. Every day we strive to protect our customers, their families, and their assets. We continue to build our knowledge and grow as a team in order to be a resource to all of our State Farm customers.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This first year in business has been the most challenging, yet rewarding, experience I have ever encountered.

One challenge I have faced is really achieving a healthy work/life balance. As a newly married, young female business-owner, it can be difficult at times to balance running a brand new business – working six days a week, late into the evenings and early mornings…. and also spend quality time with my husband and family. I strive to be 100% present in all aspects of my life and realize that this healthy balance is what will make me a better boss, business-owner and wife. It can be difficult to juggle it all, but this is also what drives me to work hard and not lose sight of my goals.

The biggest struggle overall has been identifying the right team members to help grow my business. As a small business owner, it is crucial to find the right people to represent your brand and who believe in you. We are a small family and every piece of the puzzle must fit in order to create a thriving and positive work environment. After a few ups and downs… and a few months on my own, the puzzle pieces are starting to fall into place. I now have two dedicated team members who genuinely care about our customers, take pride in finding solutions for them and are invested in growing the business.

Please tell us about Tara Casares State Farm Agency.
As a State Farm Agent, my goal is to provide education and guidance with all matters relating to insurance. Insurance can often feel confusing and cumbersome, so my team is here to help provide guidance and ensure our customers have the right protection in place. We understand that everyone’s situation, goals, and needs are different, so it is important that we identify these things and provide curated solutions. Our mission is to truly get to know all of our customers, understand their concerns and provide them with guidance that will give them peace of mind and allow them to focus on their goals and dreams. Everyday we strive to protect our customers, their families, and their assets. We continue to build our knowledge and grow as a team in order to be a resource to them. My team is available to provide support throughout the many exciting changes or challenges of life — whether it be a change of job, purchase of a new home, getting married, getting divorced, retirement or loss of a loved one.

We offer over 100 insurance and financial products, ranging from auto, home, business, bank, life and health. I specialize in helping customers properly protect their assets and implement long term plans with regard to their insurance.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is going to Disneyworld with my family for the first time. My dad earned the trip as part of a State Farm promotion and I remember being so proud to be there with him. My two brothers and I were completely wide-eyed and over the top excited to visit Epcot, Universal Studios, the different water parks and, of course, Disneyworld. I remember feeling so blessed and lucky to be there. Every so often, I look back at the photo album I put together from the trip and can almost transport myself back there. I love looking at the photos of us with the different characters and at all of the State Farm events. I remember all of the other Agents and leadership coming up to my dad and telling us what a great Agent he was. Being there was amazing, but the sense of pride I felt as his daughter, far surpassed everything else. I hope to one day in the future take my own kids there so they can share in the same experience.
