Meet Tanya Claire

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanya Claire.

Tanya, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I believe that every person deserves to look and feel their best everyday.

I have over a decade experience in the fashion industry: working in merchandising; design; visuals; editorials; and, styling fashion shows, celebrities and personal clients. My interest in fashion started at a young age observing my grandmother design clothes in her design and couture business. I knew immediately that I wanted to impact and help others find a style that spoke uniquely to who they are individually.

I studied fashion design, merchandising and marketing and worked in retail while at the university. After graduation, I worked for BCBGMAXAZRIA, Forever 21, Windsor, Nordstrom, as well as Styling editorials for magazines such as Vanity Fair. My knowledge of fabric, color, construction, and design allows me to assist my clients in attaining a wardrobe that fits not only their lifestyle but elevates their confidence, appearance, and productivity everyday.

I always say to my clients, “Change Your Look, Change Your Life”!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Learning, failing, getting up, trying again, and making mistakes, taking risks…. it is all part of growing your business, brand, career and who you are as a person. I definitely have not had it easy, however, it has brought me to where I am today and I have learned so much from the years of struggle. I have a diversified career and everything I have done, and all my connections have been from working hard on the jobs, giving my customers a valuable experience, being myself, having patience and being respectful. The fashion industry is all about connections, and when you don’t have the right ones, it can be a tough road. I have been rejected by companies, clients didn’t pay me after using my services, I was overlooked for styling jobs because I didn’t have the right connections or didn’t kiss up to whomever I needed to…. I found that it is not always the right person who gets the job or the promotion and soon realized that the ‘Hollywood’ lifestyle and work was not where my passion was…. I had to network and market myself a lot with business professionals and companies to get where I am today, and I am still working hard to build my brand and my business. if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life, and I feel truly blessed that I can get up everyday and do what makes me happy. The challenges have made me stronger and forced me to decide what I want, what I am willing to take from others and myself, and to define my goals.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am an Image Consultant. Under that umbrella is Personal Stylist or Wardrobe Stylist. I help people, (men and woman) to look and feel their best everyday. I work with them on how they want to develop their image for business/work, life, vacations, and special events.

Unlike other stylists, I work with my clients on their entire image. It is important that from head to toe and everything in-between, that they look polished, professional, elegant and that the image represents who they are and what they feel they want to project. I work with my clients, to not change their style, but to enhance and develop their overall look. Each client has their own unique look and feel, and I work closely with them to carve out their personality to come through with their fashion and styling choices. My specialties include: giving my clients their colors (telling them what colors work with their skin, hair and eye color), working with them to create a diversified wardrobe that can mix and match and works for their lifestyle/work needs, building their confidence, and teaching them how to dress.

I am most proud of the different options I am able to offer my clients – from custom suiting, shirting, and clothing – to building complete wardrobes for their lifestyle, to teaching business professionals how to dress for success. I put on fashion shows for boutiques and other companies, help their clients learn how to piece items together and dress to fit their bodies, I speak to companies and get to share my knowledge with others everyday.

What sets me apart from other stylist is the knowledge, education, experience and customer service. I am unique and proud of what I offer my clients. They know that the service I provide is invaluable. I make sure they are extremely happy, I go above and beyond for them, and I work hard to continue to educate myself on industry trends, fabrics, construction of clothing, and the retail market. I am not just ‘shopping’ for my clients and putting outfits together, I am helping them build their brand, business, and themselves!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am continuing to build my brand. I look forward to train other up and coming stylist to work with me, and learn the industry. One of my goals is to be known in Southern California as an Image Consultant and Fashion Stylist.
