Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamira Luc.
Tamira, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. From a young age, there has always been two things that interested me, writing and learning new things. I originally went to college as an English major but changed it to International Studies and marketing after my English professor said English majors were broke. LOL! That’s not a quote but close enough. It didn’t stop me from writing and I continued to “play with words” my whole life.
My life was that of a dramatic series. I have been married several times. The first time was ridiculous but I thought it made sense at 20 years old. It lasted about a year. The second time was even more ridiculous because I should have known better.
After college I went into corporate real estate, because I was so interested in learning about that industry and growing my investment business. Before long, I had houses, duplexes, an apartment building and a retail space in my portfolio. All was looking up until everything went wrong. I never anticipated the economic crash of 2008. I started losing money due to poorly chosen tenants, bad property management and my lack of experience. That may have been manageable if I wasn’t also losing my marriage, got fired from my day job and my ex-husband was threatening to take my child.
Yes, I was depressed and a half a million dollars in debt. I lost a lot. I finally hit rock bottom when I was sleeping on a girlfriend’s couch, basically homeless. Only a few years prior, I was doing so well and felt on top of the world. I didn’t even recognize myself. Who was I being?
It finally turned around when I got the courage to ask a very successful friend of mine to lunch. He was so gracious to spend that time and I will never forget it. He shared a lot but honestly the most impactful things he said to me was “Follow your heart. Your business does not have to look life anyone else’s.” I have heard that before but the context of the conversation gave it wings. I finally understood what that meant.
Today, I have created a business where I am using my story to coach others to write their story. I focus on women who want to grow their business and/or reset their lifestyle. My business isn’t exactly like anyone else’s. I follow my heart in everything I do. It’s how I finally married the love of my life, built my business and turned everything around.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
So many struggles, set-backs, obstacles, ups, downs, pivets and breakdowns. At the time it seems terrible but it’s where you learn. Those struggles are like exams in college. You will flunk a lot of tests but then you learn. Then the test comes around again and if you paid attention the first time, you will pass. It’s shame if you keep falling for the same tricks.
Here are just a few things that I have experiences:
Losing a job
That should be enough to make my point. LOL!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with DelucsLife – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a coach. I specialize in helping women entrepreneurs to grow and/ or reset their business and lifestyle. I do this through coaching them to write a book.
Why? The process is healing. If they are suffering through a difficult time in their life and career, they may not understand that the low parts are part of the journey. I share my story and give them permission to share theirs. It’s not therapy. At the end of the journey…. they have an asset that they can use for their business. I have books, courses, events and host international, local and online retreats as well.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am adding a membership site, an international retreat in Phuket, Thailand on October 7-13, 2018 and several more products. I also just finished writing my third book called, “The Right End of the Chase” with my husband and plan a book tour at the end of the year.
