Meet Tamesha Diggs of Tameshamarie in The Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamesha Diggs.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tamesha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. I always had a passion for art growing up. I am a self-taught artist. It started out as a hobby until people reached out and wanted to purchase my work. I mostly sold my pieces to family and friends at the beginning of my career. I decided to open an Etsy shop five years ago and the rest is history. I paint on canvases, purses, rocks, furniture, and etc. I’m also known for my unique hand-painted jewelry. I never envisioned myself becoming a jewelry designer but my creations are not limited to only a canvas. Now people can wear my art. Currently, I’m learning how to paint with watercolor. I love learning different techniques. I love what I do and it shows in my work.

Has it been a smooth road?
Artist influence society by bringing different cultures together to discuss Art. Local artists help to grow their community and help people see the world differently. Yes, I think the role of Artist change. Society’s opinion of the artist has changed for the good. Art shows, galleries, and paint parties are trendy now. Artist helps people be more creative and think outside of the box.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I specialize in painting images of black women and girls with natural hair. Most of my paintings do not have facial features. I intentionally want people to focus on the hairstyles. Growing up I did not see myself in paintings. It’s important for me to show the beauty of different hair textures in my work. My goal is to have artwork in homes around the world.
