Meet Talin Zakaryan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Talin Zakaryan.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Talin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My passion for photography began as an accident. When they say necessity is the mother of all invention, they are most definitely correct, my photography journey started back when I worked in marketing. I needed content for advertisements, promotions and social media so I began taking photos myself. Through the process, I discovered that I had an eye for portrait photography and a passion for capturing beautiful moments in life.

I began photographing newborns, children, and families, and that is where my specialty lays. As challenging as it may be to photograph newborns and kids, I find the task quite rewarding. There’s something just so pure and beautiful in capturing little tiny fingers and toes, innocent little smiles, and the joy radiating from a family.

I had to take a hiatus last year as I was battling Breast Cancer, stage 3. 2020 was going to be my comeback year. I had finally fallen back into the flow of normal life, rebranding my photography business and prepping for Easter Mini Shoots, right before the Coronavirus pandemic hit. So, you can imagine how heart broken I was when all projects came to a halt.

However, this unprecedented time only presented a new challenge to overcome and an opportunity to reinvent ourselves yet again. I joined the national Front Porch Project movement, photographing families on their front porches while practicing social distancing. It was particularly important to me to document this unique time in our history; photographing how so many families are quarantining together. The photos got such a great buzz that I was featured on Fox 11 Los Angeles Good Day LA news showcasing my experience as a Porch Portrait photographer. It has allowed me to reconnect with families and do what I love. Capturing beautiful moments for families!

Has it been a smooth road?
No journey or challenge comes easily. That’s why the reward is worthwhile. Number one challenge for me is myself! Self-doubt, not feeling good enough, feeling like I lack in technical skills. I’m still a work in progress. But I feel that we must always see ourselves as such in order to keep improving and becoming the best version of ourselves; not just professionally but on a personal level as well.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Recently featured on Fox 11 Los Angeles Good Day LA morning news for my Porch Portraits during this Coronavirus pandemic, have to say that it definitely has been a highlight of my work as a photographer. Being able to capture a snapshot of history, documenting how families quarantine during these unprecedented times has been rewarding and has reassured me that love always prevails.

I am a portrait photographer, specializing in family portraits, newborns, children, cake smash, maternity and holiday photography. I pride myself in my ability to work with clients of all ages, personalities and demographics to truly capture the essence of who they are. Even the ones that hate to be photographed (lol). I try to make photoshoots fun, engaging and short to keep my clients in a happy spirit.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Los Angeles – beautiful, versatile, with the most incredibly diverse residents. What’s more beautiful than to capture human life. Blessed to be living in such a thriving city!
