Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Tillman.
Sydney, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised in the valley, when I was young all I wanted to be in life was a role model .. Somebody to look up to and someone who you can always depend on. I was always trying to figure out which occupation would best fit being a fire fighter, police, singer or modeling. As I grew I fell in love with the art of modeling and throughout society’s madness I wanted to go into business for myself as well. I felt it was the best way to express myself as well as be the role model I’ve always wanted to be to young girls who are trying to get into the industry as well or be their boss. When I was 18 I started off doing a lot of trade photoshoots because I didn’t have much money to pay for a real professional photo shoot. Doing these trade shoots and trade runways it gave me all the practice I needed to be prepared for auditions and land them.
When I was 20 years old I got my first paying gig for runway hair modeling and I was excited I felt like all my hard work was paying off. Shortly after that I just started to go to every audition I could and got gigs back to back I finally was in the position I wanted to be in A few months later I found out I was pregnant and still did runways up until I started to show. Luckily I saved up enough money to open up my own eyelash business, I had a lot of time on my hands being I was on bed rest through the last three months of my pregnancy. I wanted to start up my own business so I can stay home with my baby more and spend time with him. I saved up enough money from modeling and working and was in the hospital putting together my dream of owning my own business.
Learning figuring out the best way to do it. It’s still in the works but so far Its actually been doing pretty well and to my surprise, I’ve been hooked up with big clients who love my lashes and always order. It’s most important to me to remain to model and keeping up my business because when my son who is now two months old, grows up I want him to be self made. To not fall for the system society puts us in, to be your boss so you can live the life you dream of. I need to put that work in for myself so he can see it’s possible to do anything you put your mind to.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It wasn’t always smooth some photographers have jipped me and didn’t send me my photos. There were a lot of scams. Struggles with money but after a while of working for it everything kinda just seemed to fall in place as if it was just meant to happen.
Tell us more about the business.
My eyelash company is called LoveHerConfidence. I named it that because I simply love a confident woman you can tell a woman is confident in the way she walks talks and holds her head up. In my 3D mink lashes, I want women to fill beautifully bold. To know they look good all for a satisfying price :). I’m proud of even getting my company established, for a while I’d always talk about it and I finally just did it. Being scared is what held me back for so long, but once I finally did it and put myself out there and spreading the word a lot of people supported me and loved my lash line and uniqueness
