Meet Sydney Ranee’

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Ranee’.

Sydney, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a singer/songwriter and producer from Los Angeles. My mom said that before I could walk, I was singing. I guess it’s always been a part of me.

I started singing professionally at the age of ten. Fast forward twenty years and the dream still hasn’t died. I’ve always loved singing and considered myself a singer but four years ago, I got into songwriting and producing, and it honestly changed my life.

In today’s music (field) there’s a lack of female songwriters and producers, and I took on songwriting and producing to change those numbers. I try to let my songwriting and voice tell a story with every song. I believe that music is magical and I hope to inspire with my music.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has definitely not been smooth especially in a city like Los Angeles where there are so many talented artists here. It’s hard to find your voice and to live up to the industry standards.

For me what has kept me pushing instead of quitting is just the passion for music; it’s a part of me. It’s what I do 365 days of the year even without noticing.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
Well, I guess my business is my art/craft. I’ve been singing most of my life, and I finally feel like I’ve discovered my sound. It’s definitely R&B/Soul, but at times it gets (a little) funky or jazzy and even at times just flat out rocks. That to me is just a huge accomplishment.

I’m also just proud to be able to be a writer and a producer. I choose not to compare myself to anyone else, and I think that’s what sets me apart. I’m always trying to outdo myself and learn something new. Music is never-ending not even the greatest musicians of all time have mastered it.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
2019 definitely is going to be a great year. I just released a new single called “LA Boys,” and I’m so proud to share it with the world. I’m also wrapping up the finishing touches on my EP titled “Drop My Guard.” The release date hasn’t been decided yet, but it’s in the final phase and will be dropping soon.
