Meet Swerb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Swerb.

Swerb, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
First off I just want to say thank you for the opportunity. I first started to make music when I was in 6th grade. I played the alto saxophone, that’s when I got into music theory. To be honest, it was forced on me at first by my mom, I wanted to play football (which I eventually did) and she said no and put me into a band.

Once I got to high school, I stepped it up to marching band and playing football. Around then is when I started to transfer my music knowledge to digital production. Once you learn the specific DAW it isn’t that hard to be a producer. Ever since it’s been nonstop, production eventually became; engineering, writing, producing, and mixing all of my own music.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The only thing I find to be an obstacle is making sure I dedicate enough time to making my music while also making sure I don’t take too long. I’m independent 1000% no sponsors, no cosigns, no funding, so balancing making money, and making music is something I actively have to plan out. If I don’t I’ll end up going a week or so without making music. Other than that there haven’t been many obstacles. Just the steady grind trying to take this music to another level as far as exposure.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am a musician/entrepreneur. I say musician and not just rapper or just producer because of everything that it comes with. Being self-sufficient puts pressure on not just you but the music as well. But on the other hand, I’m most proud of the fact that I don’t rely on anyone but myself for the progression of my music. It can be a double-edged sword.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I know it sounds cliche, but just working hard and keep on grinding.
