Today we’d like to introduce you to Suzi Ibanez.
Suzi, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I knew I have always wanted to do something creative as a job. I picked up a camera as a teenager and that is where my journey began. I have always loved fashion and knew I wanted to take photos that could be in magazines. I started taking photos of bloggers in Orlando, Florida. That is where I grew up. That lead to shooting for my favorite brands Urban Outfitters and Free People. Through all this, I was shooting weddings as well which I loved. I loved incorporating my editorial style to my wedding photography. To this day I’m still shooting weddings. But I continued to grow and wanted to be creative in different aspects. So as of today, I have a floral design business along with my wedding photography.
Even with my florals I strive to be unique, creative and always stylish. I really do love the wedding indsutry. I love where it’s going. A lot more people are wanting to be creative with their wedding and more personal which allows me to think outside the box for florals and photography. I’m about to host my very first floral styled shoot. It’s for wedding photographers but I will be creating three large floral installations for this. Along with stunning models, dresses and tablescapes I’m excited to be hosting this one of kind styled shoot. This is only the beginning for Sabine Blooms and excited to see where it goes!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It most definitely has not been a smooth ride. As a small business owner you are in charge of everything. You start doubting your talent and abilities. Most people don’t realize that when you are running a business it’s 90% business and 10% atually doing what you love. But if you love it that much you just do it! People will always doubt you. Even people you didn’t think would. But don’t hold it against them. They just don’t understand. You just have to keep doing what you love. For years I had a full-time job while chasing my dreams. That meant working 40+ hours and then 10-12 hours shooting a wedding. It’s exhausting but so worth it.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Sabine Blooms – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
So I run Sabine Blooms and Suzi Ibanez weddings. Sabine Blooms is a floral design company that creates unique floral and floral installations for weddings and events. I’m based in LA but willing to travel the world for a wedding. As I said before I strive for all my work to have that little editorial flair to it. I love creating large floral installations. Along with this, I have Suzi Ibanez weddings. Which specializes in elopement and weddings. My work is more dark and moody. I love playing with light and shadows and use that in my photos. I love destination wedding’s as well. I have been blessed to travel over 20 countries so far. So I’m always up for adventure! I’m proud of running these two companies and always striving to serve my clients with excellence and love!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
To continue creating beautiful images and florals for fun stylish brides!
