Meet Sunny B. Yazdani

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sunny B. Yazdani.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sunny. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Hi!I’m Sunny Yazdani, I am an illustrator and Motion Designer. I grew up in the busy Tehran. I studied BFA Textile and Fashion Design back home and I moved to the US to study Masters of Illustration and Motion Design. I started my Illustration and Animation careers around my college time. I have been working for creative studios, agencies, and animation studios for ten years as a freelancer and a full-time Designer.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Absolutely not! Growing up in a conservative society for artists led to so many restrictions and frustrations and surprisingly at the same time it could blossom into creativity. Because you have to find new approaches for your problems consistently without any freedom to express or address them. Although at some point you feel hopeless and even your solution won’t help to excess your art, so I decided to move to the US and learn more about Illustration and Motion Media.

After moving to the US, challenges and struggles have changed for me differently. Trying to fully understand the needs of the client, especially when the client is new to the industry of motion design and executing the thoughts and making it happen to meet the expectations where you and your client will be happy with results are strugglers that I’ve seen in my career. But thankfully I’ve had so many mentors, friends, and connections help me with their genuine and valuable insights.

We’d love to hear more about your art.
I’m been working as a freelancer since I wanted to be Illustrator and Motion Designer. Working as a freelancer has given me so many opportunities to design the projects I like and more close to my style.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I plan to learn more and work on various projects to challenge myself with different styles and directions. And I would like to acquire skills in 3D and VR design.
