Meet Studio City Photographer: Stephanie Wright

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Wright.

Stephanie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started photographing myself after seeing the need to challenge standards of beauty. I was my own guinea pig in the hopes of being able to later photograph others and take part in sharing new visions of what’s considered sensual, sexy or attractive. I see gorgeousness all around me. Every age, gender, race, and shape are examples of divine creation. If we were all meant to look exactly the same we would. If we weren’t meant to age, we wouldn’t. I love capturing real in a world of fake, posed, prompted and scripted. Vulnerability is sexy.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been magical. Every single picture has a back story. I love models because they trust me and we co-create together. Because I’ve been on both sides of the camera, I know where they are standing and what they are giving me when I capture them.

My biggest struggle at the start was learning to love my own flaws in my self-portraits. The camera doesn’t lie….thank goodness.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and career?
I haven’t noticed much in way of good or bad luck. However, my life and career have been full of synchronicities and coincidences that I found important to take notice of and “listen” to. This has always lead me to the right opportunities.

Do you feel like there are certain traits that increase the likelihood of success?
Staying true to oneself is a must. I believe that the Source that designed each and every one of us made us unique for a reason. Even in nature, there is much diversity. People will try to bend you to their mold or even shame you for thinking differently. I don’t believe in falling into that trap.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
LA is a magical place. Its inhabitants are diverse in more ways than I can list here. There’s something for everyone and that is a gift. I love having options.

Hands down least favorite things about LA are smog and traffic but I don’t think anyone loves those.
