Meet Christal Lauren of Stretch and Restore Yoga in Greater Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christal Lauren.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Christal. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started Stretch and Restore Yoga after finishing up my yoga teacher training program. I started practicing yoga in 2007 as a way to stay active, reduce anxiety and depression. After many years of practicing, I was asked to teach aspiring yogis. When I saw how much the practice had changed my life and the lives of others, I knew I needed to teach on a larger scale. I wanted to bring yoga to underserved communities in Los Angeles. You don’t normally see yoga in areas populated by people of color.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Teaching public classes in person and virtually has had its challenges. Most recently, transitioning from brick & mortar to teaching classes online was difficult. The initial changes took some getting used to but now that we have a process, it is getting easier.

Please tell us about Stretch and Restore Yoga.
The goal of Stretch and Restore Yoga is to inspire others to be happier and healthier in daily life through a welcoming and accessible approach to yoga. We want everyone who joins our classes and events to leave feeling relaxed and restored. We specialize in Yoga for Beginners and Yoga for Athletes.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I wouldn’t have done anything differently. It has been a huge blessing to inspire and motivate others through movement.
