Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Sandoval.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Have been drawing and painting since I can remember, but it wasn’t until a few years after high school that I considered pursuing it as a full-time career. I was working in construction when the recession hit which led to my lay off. I decided then it was time to pursue my passion for art and attended community college in Pasadena before transferring to Otis College of Art and Design. Following Otis, I freelanced, focusing on storyboards and mood boards for commercials. My freelance quickly evolved and became consistent, so I decided to start a small creative boutique with my brother Louis. I worked with a diverse set of clients and learned a lot while enjoying the work. I continue to enjoy the work but have recently transitioned to working as Vis Dev artist at Netflix Animation.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There has been some learning experiences.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
We are a creative boutique that spans many types of creative. We specialize in paid social creative, including video and static. Our clients stay with us because we take the time to understand the components of marketing. We help them bring their ideas to life while also contributing to out of the box thinking.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I’ve been fortunate to have a lot of people in my corner. From my mom and dad, my brother/business partner Louis, wife Coral and a ton of supportive friends and peers. They have played an important role in both my professional and personal life. Like many artists, I often doubt my work but luckily being surrounded by such supportive people has helped me build confidence which is important in running a business.
