Meet Steve Murray of King Ice in Covina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Murray.

Steve, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As a youth, I fell in love with branding and marketing. It was something about taking something that’s supposedly boring, and making it cool, that I loved. In high school, I started a barbershop in my mom’s basement to give myself a service to market. I later went on to start a clothing, and then most recently a marketing consulting company, Steve Murray Consulting. Each endeavor allowed me to gain experience marketing my own products or services when opportunities weren’t provided. While consulting, I met King Ice and from there I was brought on as the Marketing Manager.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road is never smooth even when things are good. There’s always moving parts, people canceling, last-minute adjustments, equipment breakdowns, and more. Nothing is ever what it seems but the main thing is to remain focused on the big picture and be resourceful to achieve your goals. Determination is the difference between winning and losing.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
As King Ice’s Marketing Manager I’m responsible for planning the rollout of campaigns, developing creative direction for commercials and advertisements, creating a social media content strategy, and amplifying the overall brand reputation and awareness.

Our most recent campaign with Death Row Records was one our most successful rollouts. It included product placement on artist like Snoop Dogg, The Game, Dr. Dre, and more. We also shot a viral commercial that received 200k+ views, a pop-up activation in Hollywood, was featured in several major media outlets which lead to a sold out collection in 24 hours.

What were you like growing up?
Outgoing, grounded, entertaining, energetic, curious.
