Meet Stephanie Stromenger

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Stromenger.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was born and raised in the United States, though I was brought up in a German family. I grew up always drawing my favorite characters from various franchises, like Pokemon, various Disney animations, my favorite being The Lion King. I was always known as the “artist” in grade school, and at the time, I loathed that.

I used to associate artists with those wacky art teachers in high school who never really made a career out of out. But I discovered commercial arts junior year of high school, and was set to pursue that career path and make a living out of it! I graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in June 2017, and I’m not living and working as a freelance designer/illustrator in Los Angeles.

Please tell us about your art.
I love using saturated, poppy colors. And designing cute characters. I think that’s about the main consistent thing about my work; I usually like to explore a lot of different styles/techniques and subject matter. I love making environments as well. I don’t usually create work for myself that has some underlying meaning, though sometimes I’m inspired by music or nature around me and create based on song lyrics or photos I take. Drawing characters is purely for fun.

We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
I’m probably not the best artist to ask this, I totally get that feeling and struggle with it myself as a freelancer. I would say try to work in-house at studios to meet other freelancers/staff. You can build a network pretty quickly that way, and some friends along the way! I imagine attending conventions to meet others works too.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
You can find my work on most social media platforms! On Twitter and Instagram. Right now, anyone can support my work through retweeting/following. 🙂
