Meet Stefanie Guerra

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefanie Guerra.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Stefanie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up my passion was soccer, however, my mom who’s a hairdresser introduced me to the beauty industry. As my time in high school came to an end, I wanted to find a career in which I had the same passion, dedication and drive as I did when playing soccer. I decided to take a makeup course and I instantly fell in love with it. My first photoshoot, as nervous as I was, is what changed the game for me. In that moment when I saw my work on camera, I was amazed at what I was capable of and I knew I needed to keep perfecting my art. As I grew and started to network, I knew I was capable of doing amazing things. Being a freelance makeup artist is always a challenge, however worth it because through those challenges it has formed me into the artist I am today. My passion is working hard and being persistent and had placed me in the right moment to work with Nike, companies, & clients. I could not be more grateful for all of the referrals and support that have advanced my career.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being a freelance makeup artist has it’s challenges and hasn’t always been a smooth journey. Everyone knows the hardwork and dedication it takes to work in the beauty industry and because of those challenges it drove me to work harder. There can be many struggles with being a freelance makeup artist, for example you are more likely to be rejected if the project is union based, and that can be a roadblock for greater opportunities. At the moment since I am not working with the union, some doors may be closed but that will not deter me to continue pursuing my passions. It only gives me the drive to work harder. One of the biggest things is I put My trust in God because when one door closes, He opens another that man cannot close.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I work with many businesses and am versatile with my makeup jobs. I work in everything from photoshoots, bridal, runway, editorial and special effects. I also utilize hairstyling with my gigs and that helps the person who hires me to keep costs within budget. As a makeup artist, I am proud of my accomplishments and what I believe has set me apart is my drive and faith in God. He has provided every opportunity thus far, and I have faith that He will continue to provide for me in my future endeavors.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was very competitive because I was so involved in sports. Outside of sports, I liked to have fun with friends, go to church and I am very family-oriented. I liked many things such as music, dancing, and traveling with my family. Most of all, my parents were such a big part of my life and showed me work ethic and to be a hard worker.
