Meet Stefanie Fujinami of Elfiefit in Westside

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefanie Fujinami.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Stefanie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My passion for fitness began one summer during high school. I volunteered to teach swim lessons at a local pool and loved working with the kids and creating a fun environment where movement was fun. I have a big dream to save every child in the world. I feel the passion in my heart to give children opportunities to be their best selves.

I believe children deserve to have healthy bodies and learn how to keep their bodies healthy. With proper exercises and nutrients, our bodies become stronger, including our brains.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This will be easy, right? I can start a business! Well, starting a business is anything but easy! A tremendous amount of dedication and perseverance is needed to keep jumping over hurdles to make that dream a reality. I have more respect for entrepreneurs and their courage and strength to keep pushing through. I keep telling myself that I also can make a difference and being an eternal optimist, I keep jumping over my own hurdles.

I had an expectation in my head that customers were going to immediately flock toward my business. Well, that did not happen. It takes time. Building a solid foundation takes time and there has definitely been great progress, but of course, I am my worst critic.

Sometimes I get in my own way. I started practicing gratitude and remembering how far I have come on this entrepreneur journey. I believe it takes a village to get through life. Now, I realize that it is going to take a village to make my dream a reality.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We teach in person game based classes for kids and adults, infused with, literacy, fitness, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). We are bridging education and fitness, making movement fun! Kids love to move around and without realizing it, they are learning too!

We found that adults love to play kids’ fitness games too, and started teaching to adults as well. Adults playing kids’ games is a chance for adults to channel their inner child and be silly! Our goal is to get people laughing and moving, making exercise and learning fun!

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was super competitive academically. I loved being around family, being silly with my friends, and doing anything active from riding my bike along the beach to playing organized volleyball. My grandpa would tell me that I had a good heart, and it was not until later that I realized what that meant. I always had a service or volunteer aspect in my life, and I enjoyed doing nice things for others and the community.
