Meet Stay Shaded of The Morning After Show in Hawthorne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stay Shaded.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m born & bred right here in Los Angeles California where I’ve spent most of my life, except for the time I spent in college in Portland Oregon (but we’ll get to that shortly) & the short time I lived in Illinois. As previously stated, I attended college at Portland State University in Portland Oregon where I played basketball while majoring in communication studies with a minor in business. I initially thought I would use my communication studies “skills” to go into sports broadcasting, but I soon learned that wasn’t quite the right fit for my personality. Then I was left wondering “what’s next…?” I soon became familiar with the now nationally syndicated radio show “The Breakfast Club” & immediately fell in love with their dynamic & thought to myself “I can do that!”.

Now I was left with the question “What was the best way to get into that industry?”. Research told me the best way to start was an internship, but by this time I was past the point of being able to afford to work for free. Seemed like I’d hit another dead end, so I did what I always do & left it in God’s hands “If it’s meant to be, it’ll be.” A few years later, I meet someone randomly who is just getting into radio & coincidentally is also looking for a co-host; I think to myself “this is my chance!”. Shortly thereafter I auditioned for the show & have been doing Internet Radio ever since that’s going on five years ago now.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely has not always been (nor is it currently) a smooth road. It can be difficult having to split time between your passion & your financial responsibilities. “I have faith everything will work out in my favor though.”

The Morning After Show – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My Internet Radio Show is called “The Morning After Show” we broadcast every Saturday morning 10am-1pm PST on “Spreaker”. We’re an unorthodox & uncensored show that highlights independent artists, entrepreneurs, business owners, etc. while giving our unfiltered opinions on different topics that are relevant to today’s society & culture. I’m most proud of the platform my co-host & I have created along with the consistency we’ve been able to maintain.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally think true success comes when you’re able to do what you love as a means of supporting yourself financially & being able to live comfortably that way. I’m looking forward to being able to quit my fulltime job to work on my passion fulltime.
