Meet Staci Trief and Phyllis Calza of We Plan the Party

Today we’d like to introduce you to Staci Trief and Phyllis Calza.

Staci and Phyllis, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We met as PTA moms working together organizing the largest fundraiser for our children’s elementary school. We did that for three years. They were so fun and successful people starting asking to hire us for their personal parties. We both loved planning and creating unique party experiences so our passion developed into a successful business and word began to spread throughout the South Bay about our events

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Everyday in our business it is exciting and fun and since we absolutely have a passion and love for what we do it definitely makes the struggles easier. With every event we know to always expect the unexpected. We try to foresee anything that might go wrong and catch it before our clients ever know there was an issue. Every event has something that arises behind the scenes but we have learned that you have to be calm, flexible and go with the flow to make it work. We have been very fortunate that nothing major has gone wrong this far.

We struggle with the fact that we are both moms with two teenagers each and have very busy lives outside our event planning so balancing that sometimes becomes a struggle. We are pulled in a million different directions every day, especially during our busy months and keeping organized is key to our success.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the We Plan the Party LLC story. Tell us more about the business.
We Plan the Party is a full service event planning company that designs, produces and manages all types of party experiences. We know that each client and event is unique, so we customize and create a one-of-a-kind event for them. Whether planning an intimate gathering or an elaborate party, we are committed to providing the highest level of service to our clients.

We specialize in the small details, we believe that is what sets us apart from other event specialist. We try our best to make every event different from the others. We also have very high standards when it comes to being at the event and what we expect from our venues and vendors. We don’t just plan a large event and leave it to run itself. When we are hired to do so we stay at the event and make sure everything runs smoothly.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
We like to think we have good luck both in our life and in our business! We figure someone is always worse off then us and we are blessed with amazing families and most important health. We have been extremely lucky in our business because we have had a constant and growing business since the day we started.

We do no advertising and are all word of mouth. We are lucky our clients love what we do for them that they refer us to their friends and families. We have a lot of repeat clients.
