Meet Soroush Khaksar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Soroush khaksar.

Soroush, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Six years ago I was capturing people because I was so passionate about it and I was doing it as a hobby but everyone around me told me this is not a job to have a feature with it, four years ago I moved from Iran to Budapest to discover the world, find new people understand new cultures and just see and learn.

Back then I didn’t know what I really want and what should I study, so everyone around me was telling me that you love sitting and playing with computer why not to study it as well, I didn’t really think about it what is it exactly so I just applied for it, I was studying computer Science for like one and half year, It was absolutely a hell for me and I couldn’t imagine myself sitting for like eight hours writing codes every day for the rest of my life, on summer 2017 I was working in a hotel in Switzerland someone told me if you really want to know what you love to do for your rest of your life go and do the worst thing you can do and you hate.

Basically, I had to wake up at 4:30 am every day to clean the toilets of a four floors hotel, it was me and my headphones and pure salience. See when you are on that situation your brain starts to think is it really what you want. On that moment I start thinking and realizing having a good job with good salary is good but if you don’t like it, it can be your nightmare, so I told myself MONEY is not everything I should go and follow my sense and what I truly passionate about so here I am, a photographer and videographer and I am enjoying what I do every day and keep seeking for more.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
So many things, firstly moving to new country, everything is new for you to get used to it, after that language I’m studying English here but the language of the country is something else, after that when you go out your country specially our country Iran you have to worry about your visa and residence permits all the time after all of those there are news coming out your country economy issues all and all the impact of the news on the others which you have to explain it to everyone it is not what they say also.

Most of the people they have a very bad image about Iran which is not true it is because of the government and the media makes it the way people think how bad it is, basically caring a name of Iran all alone can destroy a lot of opportunities you might get in your life or in your career, I would say the most difficult thing you can struggle with it is when you don’t know what you want from your life when you don’t have any aim.

Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
Right now I am working on self-branding and basically, it’s all about me and selling myself to others, as a photographer and Videographer what I specialize in is Fashion and Advertising mainly but I do side things as well, what I am trying to do is not only sticking to one thing I don’t something for a while, for example, food photography or nature… etc, I move on to the next but as I mentioned Fashion and Advertising are my number one things.

What I really like about my job is, in my opinion in this industry, it is empty, you have nothing, so your job is to gather everything piece by piece and out of all of that with your creativity making an image which contains all of those elements in it and describes your emotions and feelings through it. I believe an image has to have a story to tell otherwise what is the point of capturing something, it is also true for video as well, story is the key.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am thinking to create a YouTube channel for those who are the same as me which don’t know what they want to do so I will try to guide them, moving out from Hungary and going to a country which their first language is English because I feel like being in Europe either you have to know at least one European language otherwise you won’t be as successful as you should be, it is just my opinion about it.

I have a big Idea to mix up the cultures together and make an editorial about it. Another Idea I have is to make a fashion editorial base on Iranian culture.
