Meet Sophia Hansen of Sacred Energy Healing in Pasadena

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Hansen.

Sophia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
A California beach kid born to hippie parents The Year the World Caught Fire, my mom meditated, practiced yoga and made sure we ate healthy. As a little girl, I remember talking to God all of the time and praying every night asking the angels to protect everyone I loved the earth, the animals and the children. I knew even then that everyone has their own hotline to God.

Throughout my life, I was exposed to many different ways of worshipping God. While non-denominational in my faith, I embrace Mother Father God Creator of All That Is, Master Jesus, the Holy Family, Buddha Light, and other Divine Sacred Masters who walked our planet spreading compassion, unconditional love and joy. True to the meaning of my birth name (thanks mom!) Sophia meaning lover of wisdom – for thirty years I’ve enjoyed studying Eastern philosophy, Taoism, Confucianism, Law of Attraction, Humanism, New Age, Zen Buddhism, mysticism, energy healing. cosmology, and other spiritual philosophies. The more I learn, the more I’m inspired to learn – spirit is infinitely beautiful!

As a natural intuitive empath and multi-sensitive, I come from generations of intuitive inheriting my gifts of intuition from my grandmothers and great-grandmothers from my paternal and maternal lines. My ancestry includes the Paiute, Apache, and Cherokee Native American tribes and the sacred energy of Ireland. My greatest joy is sharing my innate Divine gifts with others to help empower, inspire and uplift them. In 1992, I learned how to give tarot readings with a poker deck and for the last 26 years I’ve given friends, workmates and clients spiritual intuitive guidance. Since 2004, I’ve had the honor of providing energy healing and empowering spiritual information to people all over the world. The energy of God, soul, consciousness, and unconditional love is abundant, powerful and infinite making this all possible.

During my late teens and early 20’s, my love for children led me to be a teacher at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory/California Institute of Technology Child Educational Center, my love for writing led me to be a technical writer/trainer during the technology boom in the Silicon Valley, and my love for music led me to work at Warner Bros. Records. I’m so blessed to have worked in such exciting fields meeting so many interesting people. After enjoying these positions, I became a paralegal in downtown Los Angeles for some of the largest litigation and environmental firms. I loved the structure and mental stimulation that writing legal documents and legal research gave to me and I was fascinated how, like everything else in life, the law changes. I was fortunate to work at Girardi/Keese for the attorney who arbitrated the infamous cases that the movie Erin Brockovich was based. I learned so much spiritually and professionally at Girardi/Keese handling over 700+ cases and meeting many interesting people including former Vice President Joseph Biden (he was a Senator at the time) and former Presidential nominee John Edwards.

In 2013, I founded the Integrative Wellness Institute to certify and train others how to access their own spiritual healing abilities to help humanity, Earth, the animals and all life on our beautiful planet. We’re so blessed to be alive during this transformational spiritual renaissance. Together with over 100 other scientists, I am a supporter and signee of the Manifesto for a Post-Materialist Science http://www.opensciences.org/about/manifesto-for-a-post-materialist-science.

An ardent supporter of academia, I’ve had the privilege of participating in many academic research studies:

Brown University 2007: Qualitative Assessment of Spiritual Medicine and Faith Healing Practitioners in the United States;

University of Southern California 2015: Medical Anthropology: Shamanic Reiki;

University of California, Santa Barbara 2015: Universal Life Church Ministers and Reiki Practitioners; and

Harvard University/Center for Reiki Research 2015, 2016: The Therapeutic Benefits of Reiki.

California State University, San Marcos 2016: Complementary and Alternative Medicine in Nursing.

Actively meditating since 1997, my own spiritual practice includes daily meditation, prayer, exercise, connecting with nature, regular management of my own energy and chakras, and receiving energy treatments from trusted colleagues. I love playing outside, being with family and friends, riding horses, running, biking, cooking, and enjoying the simplicities of daily life.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have often called myself the “Reluctant Healer.” In my early years, I really struggled with being a “healer” since I was working in the legal field and had another plan for my life. However, through each hiccup in my life I was always brought back to intuitive energy healing and supporting others in this capacity. It’s interesting because I received my degree in psychology and wanted to work with folks in a healing capacity, albeit psychological, and as I reflect upon this, I am so grateful that I am still fulfilling my dream of working with others to support their spiritual health and path to personal empowerment.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sacred Energy Healing – what should we know?
My conscious business supports body, mind, spirit, soul wellness. In addition to my natural intuitive abilities, I implement a hybrid of a bunch of different healing modalities and systems.

Those that I’ve learned through classes and in particular those I’ve been taught by my Divine Spirit Guides (and continue to learn of). I would say my specialties involve supporting others both reunite with their wholeness, achieve physical and emotional healings and my personal favorite, supporting their reunification with their own Divine Soul Self.

I’ve found that many who come to me have lost a bit of their natural connection with their joy for life simply due to the life challenges they’ve had or are having. There is usually always a catalyst that brings them to me. It’s my greatest joy to clear out the “energetic clutter” amassed from life so they can connect with the innocence and purity that they were born with so they can again live a life they’re joyful about. Another of my greatest joys is teaching others how to connect with the Universal energy that’s all around us so they can access it themselves (just as they used to do as children) to co-create the life they desire, supporting their natural joyful state of Being.

I’m most proud of how I’ve been able to support thousands of people since 2004 to embrace their own sacred nature and fall in love with their own life again. I think there are two things that sets me apart from many others: 1.) Energy healing chose me in the beginning – I resisted it many times. I had other plans for myself and my life. Then when I finally surrendered to it and realized that we all have a purpose in life and when we finally embrace it, it’s one of the most beautiful gifts we can give to ourselves and to all life on Earth. 2.) I’ve been committed to being fully engaged in my humanity. Meaning, I try to live as normal a life as possible even though I do this work. I make sure I do “normal” things, have “normal” relationships and have “normal” experiences. This is one of the many reasons I have remained in the Greater Los Angeles area all of these years and not moved to a more “spiritual” place like Sedona, Mt. Shasta or to the woods in some remote area. Another good friend of mine said to me not too long ago, that doing this work in Los Angeles like getting your PhD in this work because the collective energy here is so intense and can overwhelming.

I love how I hold the space for folks to meditate, receive Reiki and intuitive guidance, shamanic guidance and to take classes themselves to learn spiritual tools and techniques to support their own well-being and loved ones including animals.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The qualities I believe that have been most important to my success has been the fact that I have a formal education receiving my BA from UC Santa Barbara, a strong academic school and receiving my MA from a small private school in Pasadena. I had to write a thesis to receive my MA which reinforced my disciple in seeing a project from beginning to end. And most importantly, I was a paralegal for major downtown law firms for 16 years which was a great training ground for me. I had the privilege for working for Girardi & Keese handling their 740+ asbestos cases for nearly 7 years and had the huge responsibility to handle the settlement claims for these cases, keep the hundreds of clients apprised of their settlement, keep track of the finances and everything involved with the claims and cases. Even though I had to do a lot of legal writing and interfacing with hundreds of people (including the partners and staff in the offices) I was always compassionate and listened. I found that the plaintiffs in these cases (some that had gone on for 20+years) simply needed someone to talk to and express their frustrations to. One of the most important aspects to this job was to honor their humanity, their dignity, their hard work and their infinite patience. This position really strengthened my discipline, precision, compassion and many other qualities needed to develop a successful conscious business, especially in Los Angeles.
