Meet Sofie Gil and Rubi Rodriguez of éLan Belle in San Fernando Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sofie Gil and Rubi Rodriguez.

Sofie and Rubi, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
éLan Belle started as a simple idea Sofie had for a while about starting a fashion business. She has always loved everything about fashion and wanted to bring her vision to life. Because Sofie knew that her sister Rubi was financially and business savvy, she thought it be a great idea to join forces and start a business. Just like putting together the Yin and the Yang. It was in April of 2018 when it all began, we brainstormed and wrote down steps it would take to get it all started.

Finding a business name was our first step, we wanted the name to have some sort of meaning. Using our own names could have been simple but we wanted more, so we came up with what you all know today as, ÉLan Belle. éLan means sophistication, elegance, and uniqueness, and Belle means beauty. The second step was what exactly do we want to sell. And we came up with the simple idea of selling fashionable and affordable accessories.

Statement pieces that women can use to feel sophisticated, elegant, unique and beautifully in without wasting half the paycheck. Boom! It happened, June of 2018 we placed our first order of earrings, bracelets and necklaces. The behind the scenes role was in full effect during summer of 2018. September 11, 2018, marks the launch date for éLan Belle. With so much passion and enthusiasm Sofie and Rubi began to promote their brand through their business Instagram page @elanbelle_ and their own personal IG pages.

They began to attend vending events to promote their brand & get the word out there as to who élan Belle was. Once the name was becoming more recognizable, we began to work in collaborations with different Bloggers, Influencers, Models, Photographers and other businesses. Today we stand strong and continue to feel the same passion and enthusiasm for our baby as we did when we first started.

Has it been a smooth road?
Hahaha where do we start! Jk, jk, jk. It has definitely not been a smooth road. Having a business comes with its ups, downs and unique challenges. But it is through it all that we have learned what we know now. Some of the struggles we have dealt with are collaborations not following through the way we expected or wanted. Models canceling on us last minute for photoshoots. And now, having to smoothly run an online business through two different states.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the éLan Belle story. Tell us more about the business.
éLan Belle is more to us than just a business, it is a brand. Over the course of time as we collaborated with other brands and companies we have added, apparel, coffee/tea mugs & even our own tea blend. In the future, we hope to bring more to éLan Belle, but for now, our most popular items we would have to say are our earrings and our famous “Chula Mug” which you all need in your life!!

We are mostly proud to say that we are always open to giving a helping hand to anyone and everyone. There’s a saying in Spanish, “Juntas somos mas poderosas” (Together we are more powerful) and this is true to the T! A lot of people don’t realize that there’s room and success for everyone. If I help you shine you help me shine so why not work together instead of against one another. éLan Belle has also sponsored several different women empowerment events and businesses as a way to give back to our community. Having this drive and mentality is what we believe sets us apart from others.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The industry in which we are in is a constant change. Year by year and season by season the fashion industry evolves and we must keep up. Yes, there are some items that have an everlasting ability, but for the most part, trends do change. Over the next 5-10 years, this industry may come back to trends that are out today. Fashion doesn’t fail to always make its way back somehow or another. For instance, the hair accessories trends from 90’s are now back. We remember using similar hair clips, barrettes, scrunchies, etc., back when we were little girls and here you have us years later using the same styles.
