Meet Silvia Pangaro of Silvia Pangaro Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Silvia Pangaro.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always loved photography but I never thought about making it my career. In 2009, I purchased my first camera and I decided to take fine art photography classes. We had a few assignments relate to people’s photography and then I discovered fashion and portrait photography and immediately felt inspired by this new challenge. I studied posing techniques, composition and skin retouching. Also graduated from Cosmix School of Makeup Artistry as a Glamour and Fashion Makeup Artist. In November 2012, I was invited to participate in an exhibit for the United Nations in Switzerland entitled “Mujeres Andinas, Women of the Andes” organized by artist Paulina Burke, owner of Artemis Gallery in Switzerland and soon after that I started freelancing for International Opulence Magazine and photographing Ballet with Boca Ballet Theatre. I had the opportunity of making photos for CD covers, books, artist, advertising and also for families, actors, models, weddings, events and general headshots.

Has it been a smooth road?
Photography business is very competitive and saturated. I was born in Argentina and I moved to Florida about 15 years ago. In Florida, I was working on a full-time job as well freelancing photography to be able to buy all the equipment and save money to build my business. I decided to move to Los Angeles to pursuit full time photography last year. It was a challenging transition, but to be able to work on what you love every day is amazing. I hope to keep growing my business in this beautiful city.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Silvia Pangaro Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialized on photographing people. Since I photograph ballet for many years I can also say, ballet/dance photography is one of my specialties. I also offer headshot services for professional business, actors, models, etc. I photograph for advertising and commercials, CD covers, books, websites, people in general… engagements, family photo session, weddings, events.

I make people feel comfortable on camera and I walk them thru different possess during the photo session to ensure they look them best. I use lighting to enhance the face and the background. I retouched photos to ensure best results. I make sure the photos represent the person, or product.
