Today we’d like to introduce you to Sid Rane.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sid. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Photography sort of fell in my lap. An engineer by education, after leading a hardcore corporate lifestyle for 10 years I left my computer engineering job in 2015, and apprenticed with top photographers, before starting out on my own. The strongest, most defining aspect of my aesthetic is that I never conformed to the conventional ‘rules’, but made my own. I have crafted my own style by drawing inspiration from my personal treasure of memories and experiences in different cultures; the traditions that influenced me during my travels. I create images with a character to editorial, fashion, beauty, and advertising clients that help sell the products. The goal is to make people fall in love with these characters being portrayed in my photography. I strive to have a strong character presence in my photographs.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been an interesting journey. Of course, there have been challenges along the way which have fueled my passion to overcome them. Every experience that I’ve had, whether good or bad, has been extremely enriching. I’ve grown to love ‘not knowing something’ because that has given me the opportunity to learn something amazing every single time. I’ve loved to transition my personality from the ‘analytical engineer’ into the ‘artistic entrepreneur’ and continue to look for more growth opportunities.
Right from the beginning I’ve been working with highly experienced photographers and big clients/celebrities who expected excellence. This was challenging but an amazing opportunity to grow and it definitely helped me learn at a faster rate.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Sid Rane Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
I believe that every individual, designer, brand or magazine has a unique style of their own. I appreciate this uniqueness a lot. I love to help them express themselves through photography and enhance their expression through my creativity. My forte is making anything look fashionable, be it portraits of artists or editorials for top fashion magazines. I’m a one stop shop for producing publicity campaigns and marketing material for fashion brands and designers. I work on creating concepts, hiring models, assembling the team, post production and providing quality deliverables. I understand what my clients want from a business perspective and align my services to my clients’ goals. Of course, substance and style must go together. My clients often hire me because they want the style of my images.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Rather than looking at it as good or bad luck I prefer to see it as an opportunity. When I encounter failure it’s an opportunity to work harder, to push my limits and to grow my knowledge and when I have success I take that opportunity to be grateful and appreciate the amazing people and resources that helped me get there.
I give my 100% to whatever I’m involved with and I believe I’ve created my own luck in life.
