Meet Sherman Oaks Photographer: JT Gallery

Today we’d like to introduce you to JT Gallery.

JT Gallery, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It’s all been kind of a blur, actually. Ha. I bought a camera in 2013 and didn’t use it for a few months. I had no intentions of really pursuing a career in photography/videography. I’m a musician as well and I had just gotten the camera to capture different moments in the studio, at shows, etc. I ended up having my first shoot with an agency represented a model in January of 2014 and from there everything just started moving faster and faster.

Has it been a smooth road?
So far it’s been fairly smooth. A lot of opportunities have come my way from simply being in the right place at the right time. Also, from just having solid relationships with people from just genuinely being a good person to others. I’d say the struggle has been trying to balance photography/videography with the other creative endeavors I pursue.

How would you describe the type of kid you were growing up?
Growing up I was very observant & very inquisitive. I was always asking questions & challenging what was at the surface. My main interest was sports. I played sports year round … football, basketball, baseball, track & field. Once I reached high school, I decided to focus on football & track. I also developed a strong love for music during this time. I went on to play collegiate football at Louisiana Tech University where I was introduced to a music software program and from there began to tap more into my creative side. While playing football, I suffered from injury which eventually led me to walk away from the game and funnel my energy into my creative endeavors.

What is your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memories come from playing out in the countryside with my cousins while we were young. We had very vivid imaginations. It made for some very fun times! Ha.

So, what should we be on the lookout for, what’s next in store for you?
My plan for the future is to continue growing in my craft. I’m currently tightening up my portfolio as I’m seeking representation. Everything I’ve accomplished thus far has simply been through word of mouth. I’m ready to kick things up a notch and really dig deeper into my career. My hopes are to begin shooting larger projects/campaigns come top of the year. I also do music and I recently released my debut, so I’ll be putting some time and effort into moving that forward as well.
