Meet Sheridan Street of Street and Spice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheridan Street.

Sheridan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m 30 years old raised in San Diego, CA, bilingual, bi-racial, and an eclectic foodie. I started “Street and Spice, LLC in March 2016 after I finally chose to take a leap of faith and quit working for corporate America.

A few months back in January, same year, I launched my blog site streetandspice.com where all I had planned was creating and posting dope recipes and highlighting events (it was my 2016 new years resolution).

Never would I know that three months in I would create my baby, Street and Spice the catering company!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It got hard once the money you had saved as a security blanket goes away. Now it’s sink or, and that’s where things got real. Nothing crazy but I won’t lie and say my phone wasn’t off a few times.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Street and Spice – what should we know?
Street and Spice offers Meal Prep Packages, personalized dining experience through Private Chef Services as well as offer Recipes via streetandspice.com. In addition to the company, I’ve worked with brands such as Chili’s, Doritos, the Kansas City Chiefs, Melissa’s Produce and others to name a few. Even got to cook for one of my mentor chefs, Chef Roy Choi during a Kroger “Zero Hunger Zero Waste” event, still on cloud 9! I later added Meal Prepping to the list of company attributes.

Being able to cook for some pretty awesome and talented people I still can’t believe I met. Still, I’ll be honest, quitting my job was scary. I cried (I still do, I’m human), I lost sleep, was stressed, gained weight, lost weight, got uninspired and then got my groove back. All I needed to do is believe in myself. Still much to learn and far to go but I’m learning to be happy and appreciate the now. My company specializes in healthy dining and fusion. I get weak for tacos, I love veggies and enjoy making savory vegan dishes (but I’ll murder some lemon pepper wings). Can we say… balance?

I’m proud of being a Costa Rican and African American Woman who is being recognized in such a male-dominated industry. Mama, I’m doing something right! I pride myself in customer service and each dish savory and memorable. I think what sets me apart is my passion shows through my food, I didn’t go to culinary school, but I feel like I’m learning everyday, this is truly what I love, and I can’t wait to see where the future takes me,
