Meet Shellie Slack of B.E.- Transformation {Butterfly Enterprises}

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shellie Slack.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a committed educator, youth advocate, youth and parent life coach, author and mentor, my passion for youth continues to grow greater each day! With experience extending over 15 years, I have worked with youth from elementary through high school in the capacity of instructor, tutor, mentor, advocate, teacher assistant, and dance coach. I have conquered challenges within my childhood, struggled with abandonment issues, fought with depression, and low self-esteem which continues to strengthen my connection with today’s youth.

I have taken my childhood struggles and past experiences as a driving force to continue writing and creating personal development books that serve as a resource tool for others. My books offer tips to strengthen self-awareness, self-discovery, and how to master a positive self-perception. As I continue to share my story with others, it is my passion for assisting the youth and parents to reach their full potential in life that keeps me thriving!

I am a native of Los Angeles and a member of a phenomenal sisterhood; Zeta Phi Beta Sorority INC, APZ chapter based in Los Angeles California. I have obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from Cal State Dominguez Hills, and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Loyola Marymount University. In 2012, I began my teaching career and is currently an Education Specialist at a local high school.

I was positioned to begin my own business, B.E.-Transformation in 2018. It is my goal to provide communities, schools and non-profit organizations with helpful personal development resources for youth through fun and engaging workshops with a coaching style that will increase self-awareness for youth and parents/guardians.

Through my personal development book collection, workshops, and coaching techniques, I have high hopes that personal transformation will occur through 3 components that are a catalyst for personal transformation; self-awareness, mastery of self-perception and self- discovery. My educational philosophy is that the “Social and emotional well-being of a child goes hand in hand with academics to prepare students for holistic success.”

Has it been a smooth road?
I published my first book in 2016, little did I know that there will be many books to follow and a new business venture. Since I am just at the beginning stages of my business, I haven’t had any obstacles as of yet. It’s truly been a smooth transition by the grace of God. The right people has been placed in my path in which has played an instrumental role of seeing my dream come to fruition.

The most difficult thing was finding my message; it was one thing to write all these books for personal development but another thing to understand my voice behind it all, my message, my brand. It took many days of isolation from friends and family and distractions to get in tuned with that voice inside of me.

I had to look within and do some soul searching of what I was placed on this earth to do. What was my purpose for this season in my life?

So, as you know, we’re impressed with B.E.- Transformation {Butterfly Enterprises} – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Well, I always had a fascination with butterflies when I was younger. I longed to be like one, with beauty, grace and to fly in my own uniqueness. My first book was titled ” The Life of a Butterfly; Secrets to Embracing your Journey into Womanhood” a self-help book for teenage girls and young women. The cover of the book is of a woman with wings. This is where the butterfly begins to become part of my brand. I wanted for people to see a butterfly and think of me and my company and associate it with personal development and growth. In my self-help book, I compare the life cycle of a butterfly to the stages of a young girl growing up to become a woman.

This new business is truly built from my own life’s framework. I have been in my own personal journey of self-awareness, self-discovery, and mastery of my own self-perception as I continue to Transform and operate at a higher frequency and being. And with the gifts God has given me, I want to impart in the lives of the youth first and foremost by assisting them with becoming aware of any unhealthy behaviors and patterns as well as igniting their passion about life and purpose through discovery who they are and owning it!

According to Joyce Meyers, “If you can help a child, you don’t have to spend years repairing an adult” as I had to at age 25 I begin my journey of enlightenment, seeking true joy, purpose, and happiness for my life. I also have the heart to help parents. Self-aware parents foster self-aware children. It always starts at home. Although I am highly qualified by God to step into what I consider to be my entrepreneurial calling, I took the liberty of enrolling in school to further gain techniques and tools to implement in my coaching sessions.

By Spring 2019, I will be certified as an at-risk youth life coach as well as a Youth and Parent Life Coach.

I am most proud that my business is a purpose based business. Our mission is to help the youth and our parents fulfill their full potential in life by giving them the tools and guidance that will ignite personal transformation. We provide one-one coaching, group coaching style workshops, resources/tools from our “Life of a Butterfly book collection” We have fundraising opportunities for businesses that service youth, mental health, education, personal development.

We are also always open to providing financial opportunities for partnerships and marketing affiliates. Our brand and unique workshops resources/tools and coaching technique/style sets us apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like best about working in the inner city is that I have connected with so many change agents, people who have grown up in South Central LA or a similar environment as me and are going back to help the youth, the homeless and families in whichever way God has placed on their hearts to do.

What I like least about the city I grew up in is the lack of access; particularly our schools that the youth has compared to our more affluent communities.
