Meet Shea Curry of Catch Social in Miracle Mile

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shea Curry.

Shea, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always been a creative and serial entrepreneur. I started out as an actress and singer touring in a Broadway show for two years. I moved to Los Angeles to pursue TV and film and had a successful run. But in 2008 when the writer’s strike happened, I turned a hobby into a business and launched a jewelry line that I sold all over the world.

This led me to audition for Project Accessory from the producers of Project Runway. I won one of 12 slots to be a contestant on this reality show for LIFETIME where I made jewelry, hats, shoes, and handbags. While I didn’t win, it propelled my jewelry business too much success. However, after having my twins via IVF, I decided to leave the jewelry world and take my skills as a business owner and go to work for a marketing agency that helped other entrepreneurs. What I discovered was that unlike most marketing agency owners, I had more insight into the struggles and multiple hats business owners encounter each day. After getting approached by multiple people for strategy, business advice, help with social media, etc., I eventually decided to launch Catch Social- a full-service social media management company. We work with both product and service-based clients across the country handling everything from photography, videography, copywriting, social media calendars, social media outreach and community management, website refresh, email marketing, consulting, and so much more.

We don’t do a “one size fits all” with our clients. We tailor our services around each client’s needs. We take a more personal/ hands-on approach. Many of our clients are start-ups and need consulting on a wide range of business needs. I personally LOVE working with business owners. Maybe it’s because I’ve been in their shoes. I know the excitement of a new product launch. I also know the frustration when dealing with manufacturing. I love seeing when a brand is getting the recognition they deserve, and my heart goes out when things don’t go as planned. The bottom line is, Catch Social is uniquely different than larger agencies. I’ve experienced all the ups and downs and can talk to clients and suggest strategies outside of the typical big agency conversations. I think this is what gives us a soul and sets us apart.

Has it been a smooth road?
HA! There is nothing smooth about being a business owner. There are always hurdles to overcome. Clearly, COVID-19 has had a huge impact on us as it has on virtually every busy out there. We’ve been very fortunate that most clients have come from referrals. But I would probably say, one of the biggest hurdles has been finding time to do more business development and focusing on the types of businesses we know we can really help.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Catch Social – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
We understand that not every business can afford an in-house social media marketing person or team. We also know that in order for a business to thrive, a social media presence with good quality content and brand messaging is paramount. Our goal is to deliver high-quality work within a budget that saves you both time and money. Our services include social media strategy and consulting; social media management which includes community management and outreach; content curation; content creation- photography/ videography; copywriting; email marketing; blogs; website overhauls; influencer marketing, etc. Our approach is different from other agencies. We are not a “one size fits all.” We are hands-on, and we tailor our services based on your business needs. We basically handle “all things social” so you can get back to running all the other areas of your business.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I love about Los Angeles is the weather. Even in the winter, I can still wear flip-flops! You can’t beat that. I also love the diversity and culture. From places like the LACMA to the Hollywood Bowl to the Walt Disney Concert Hall, there’s so much to experience. We love the ability to be at the beach or head up to the snowy mountains in the winter. The food in LA is incredible – literally every type of cuisine can be found here.
