Meet ShaRon Spicer of Bright Path Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to ShaRon Spicer.

ShaRon, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m a Los Angeles native, born in Compton. I began a career in music in 2005. I attended school for media production and received a bachelor in fine arts, which inspired me to direct films, and write scripts. Writing and producing music has always been a passion of mine. Experiencing homelessness myself and seeing my father die in the streets of LA led me to get involved in fighting the homeless epidemic.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Helping with the homeless epidemic has been one of the roughest roads I’ve ever driven. There are many homeless individuals and families in Los Angeles.  Many of the issues that leads to homelessness have to be addressed, such as lack of housing, lack of funding, mental illness, unaffordable housing, etc.  These are some issues that play a major role in homelessness. Bright Path is looking to secure funding for new housing facilities.

Bright Path Center – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Bright Path Center is a non-profit organization that directs at risk and homeless individuals on a successful path and inspires them to make a meaningful difference in the world through a variety of wellness and enhancement programs. We specialize in not only assisting with housing but providing our clients with the resources and tools need to succeed and maintain their housing. This is a vital key in transitioning from homelessness.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I recently directed a short film called “Dark Road Bright Path.” Through this film, we were able to capture the stories of homeless individuals first hand. It is a great honor to be a part of Bright Path. Our short film “Dark Road Bright Path” will be available on YouTube on February 22, 2020, please stay tuned.
