Meet Shanna Evangeline Little of Little Simplicity in Marina Del Rey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanna Evangeline Little.

Shanna, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story started when I was young and wired a little different than everyone else. I would organize, move furniture and even paint family & friend’s homes. My Barbie house was quite impressive!

After I graduated, I started a business called Girlfriday which was my way of getting into homes for errands, housesitting & pet sitting but knowing I would find a way to organize their life. I didn’t find much success until I moved to a bigger city where there was more of a need for the service I was providing. The move from SC to Atlanta was worth it but still not enough for me. It took all I had to move away from my amazing large family but I knew I had to make the leap!

Starting over in a new city was not easy and I was alone BUT I think those are the times where you just keep your focus and drive and learn the most. Luckily shows like HDTV started opening the door helping people understand the benefits of a professional organizer. Nine years later, I’m in a much different place where social media makes it a lot easier to showcase what you can do. Now I’m in multiple cities Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco, Tahoe, but my home will always be in LA.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course! Any good success story has to have struggles. I’ve had many… and always learning.

I think the biggest struggle for me was trying to find clients when people didn’t understand what I did exactly. They knew they needed help but not sure how I could help. People are so excited to hear how the process works. Having someone open their home is a very vulnerable thing so I don’t take that responsibility lightly.

Little Simplicity specializes in Organizing and Design. The process is so fun! The calls I get are all so different and unique. I do a consultation to determine what their needs, wants and concerns are. I love when they say that after I leave they already feel the weight lifted off their shoulders. All my clients end up being family to me. So, the clients I have are the family I have made for myself far away from my amazing family.

I think I come in and make my client feel like everything is going to be ok. I listen and I never just do the bare minimum. Some call it magic 🙂 … to quote my Yelp reviews.

What were you like growing up?
I was a kid with a wild imagination and never bored. I have always been into organizing and design and making everything look perfect. Even my childhood tree house was complete with hanging art.

I wasn’t into sports which disappointed a lot of strangers me being 6 ft. tall. It just wasn’t my thing, I always marched to the beat of my own drum. Not always the easiest way to be but I had a great support system who always made me feel confident. My father wasn’t in the picture so my mom and sister were my best friends.
