Meet Sesi Teal of One of Eight Showroom

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sesi Teal.

For over 20 years, Sesi has evolved from a sales rep, to a key accounts manager, National sales manager and currently a National Sales Director/ Merchandiser. She is creative as well as experience in selling, merchandising and servicing contemporary and sports apparel brands. She works to sustain relationships with major accounts while continuing to prospect and network while identifying new potential areas of business. Sesi has worked for many diverse brands that add to her in depth knowledge and understanding of the contemporary market.

Sesi has been able to successfully grow brands like DC Shoes that recorded revenues of $305 million in 2009 while she worked as a key account sales major. Matix women was nominated in 2008 for break through brand of the year. Her experience with International brands are a proven success; like Australia brand Ladakh that launched in the US Sept 2011 grew from $300,000.00 to over 5 million in 10 months.

One of Eight Showroom was launched in 2016 to give emerging brands the attention and focus they deserve. As the seventh child of eight, owner Sesi Teal aims to make each client feel like family from the moment they step into her showroom, giving them access to her specialized expertise in sales, trend forecasting, line planning, distribution opportunities, customer service, and much more.

Sesi works tirelessly to sustain relationships with each of her valued accounts (big or small) – all while continuing to prospect and network to identify new areas of business. Home to some of the most imaginative and forward-thinking labels in the industry, One of Eight Showroom is proud to connect established and emerging brands with the best retailers in the game.

Gentle Fawn has also been her focus for the past 5 years and she continues to work with them overseeing all US sales. Her focus is overseeing all showrooms for US and major accounts.

Sesi first started working with International companies in 2011 with Ladakh an Australia brand that launched in the US Sept 2011. She managed over 15 people for US sales as well as worked with the Australia design and merchandising team to create custom packages for the US market. She Opened Urban, Free People, Bloomingdale’s, Saks 5th Ave, Nasty Gal and Revolve.

Sesi started Colette consulting in 2010 and to help company’s gain external advice and access to her specialized expertise; as a merchandiser tapped into fashion trends, sales forecasting, line planning, analyzing current market data for future distribution opportunities while identifying gaps in order to increase market share and drive profitable growth. Brands she has consulted for Local Celebrity, Rebel Yell, Seneca Rising, Royal Love (Private label for forever 21) Sydney Showroom, and Chapter Women’s.

With each step in Sesi’s career she has acquired the tools to grow and turn each company into a profitable growing brand. Ever position Sesi has had the opportunity to learn and add to her skills and training to get her to where she is today. Her energy and passion are unstoppable when it comes to growing a brand and getting the job done right.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I don’t think any road is going to be smooth if your pushing yourself to want to learn more. That has been my main focus is to never stop learning and growing. I think the biggest struggle is seeing brands not invest in people and always thinking the grass is greener on the other side. Grass is green because you water it and give it love and that is what is missing in so many brands I see today. Good things take time they don’t happen overnight.

Specialize in helping brands get established in the fashion industry. Brands are missing the passion and love that showrooms once had years ago. Brands need love, attention and care but most of all a passionate sales team that believes in the product and that is what my sales team and I do best.

I am most proud of giving my employee’s a healthy, safe, thriving respectable environment to work in. I have always wanted to be able to mentor give back to women and a healthy positive way.

What sets me apart is my passion and love for the fashion industry. I want to always be excited about what I do and the day I wake up and I am not excited; will be the day I decide to change my career.

What were you like growing up?
Since I was #7 out of eight children, growing up, I had to really stand up and speak up in what I believed in. I think this completely shaped me to be strong and not to be scared to say what is on your mind and in your heart.
