Meet Sébastien Luke and Danni Luo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sébastien Luke and Danni Luo.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Sébastien: After I received my fashion training from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, I started my fashion career as an Assistant Designer for Guy Laroche and Pierre Balmain Collections by Dickson Group in Hong Kong. I was later promoted to Womenswear Collection Designer to campaign for the “What’s Hot What’s Cool” label at Harvey Nichols, Hong Kong.

Danni: I received my fashion training from FIDM in LA. After that, I have worked as a sportswear designer where our collections have been sold in Nordstrom, Urban Outfitters and online retailers such as Modcloth. I have then worked in luxury retail before I joined Sébastien to start the Sébastien Luke bridal line in 2017.

Sébastien: Ever since my days at Otis, I have been very passionate about bridal and evening wear design. I was awarded the Designer of Year, The Best Evening Wear Excellence for my graduation collection. In 2016, I finally felt it was the right time to start my own bridal line. I partnered up with Danni and decided to create a line of versatile bridal wear tailored to those fashionable brides looking for more unique and unconventional bridal looks.

Has it been a smooth road?
Like many startup businesses, we face many challenges. The main challenge for us has always been how to more effectively introduce our collections to potential boutiques and brides with a limited marketing budget.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
The Sébastien Luke bridal collection is all about redefining modernism with a touch of elegance and glamour. We believe today’s bride should have the luxury to choose a wedding dress that resonates with her unique personal style, that’s why we offer her a timeless collection of modern bridal silhouettes with couture aesthetics and meticulous craftsmanship.

No matter if she’s an unconventional bride looking for a fresh look like a jumpsuit, or a classic bride looking for a traditional look with a modern twist, by putting great emphasis on versatility, we allow our bride to create multiple looks from one design to achieve her truly one-of-a-kind bridal style.

We are introducing styles with detachable accessories so the bride can change it up for the ceremony and reception throughout the wedding. We also want to create bridal designs that will not only be worn once on the wedding day but can be reused for different purposes and occasions after the wedding as well.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We are seeing a big shift of brides going for the more fashionable and personalized bridal looks. With the impetus from social media, more brides are willing to experiment with fresher and bolder designs instead of the traditional princess style. Changing up the outfits throughout the wedding day is also a huge trend. For those brides without a big budget, using detachable accessories to achieve different looks is definitely a more economical approach to this trend.
