Meet Sebastian Schug

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sebastian Schug.

Sebastian Robert Schug/Nicolas M. Parker (born February 25th, 1998) is an independent American author, illustrator, publisher, and novelist currently residing in suburban Burbank, California. Beginning his illustrative career at the early age of fourteen jumpstarted by author Rene Ghazarian’s The Adventures of Daniel, he has since gone on to become the main author, illustrator, and publisher of numerous works, series, as well as further collaborations with other individuals. Currently, he attends California State University, Northridge, studying Communication Studies, Political Science, as well as Art and Law. He is the founder of Sebastian Schug Publishing at

Regarding current projects being published (both independently, as well as co-produced, authored, etc.) my focus traditionally falls within the scope of satire, fiction, or otherwise absurdist humor. Typically associative with “coffee table” books and/or abstract by definition, the subject matter is taken from true-to-life observations and perceptions of individuals, locations, and events.

My goals – in essence – are to breathe life back into the satirical spectrum of published material and to more generally call attention to look at one’s world around them as humorously bleak and meaningless. It is to take realism into account in order for an individual to grasp this concept, finding his/her own meaning of what is important in life.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Obstacles/Challenges – aside from standard digital malfunctions and setbacks (given that a large majority of my work is through the utilization of computers) – have been few and far between my publications since 2015. The occasional setbacks come in the form of royalty disputes, as well as partnership contractural obligations.

Please tell us about Sebastian Schug Publishing.
Sebastian Schug Publishing focuses its emphasis as fast, efficient, and affordable publishing – first and foremost. As an independent publishing company (primarily in emphasis/response to other less affordable self-publishing options) SSP prides itself as both demanding no up-front cost and having no limitations based on genre. Any and all submission requests are welcome, however, all submissions are subjected to a preliminary content-check in order to determine the manuscript’s quality.

Sebastian Schug Publishing offers literary (writing), illustration, editing and narrating services, alongside base publishing services.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Starting over would ultimately translate into establishing a different – perhaps more rigorous – publishing/updating schedule. A greater emphasis on social media presence would be a factor I would be more focused on, as well as audience engagement relating to the sales of independent and collaborative projects.
