Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Ireton.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sean. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in the Bay Area (Northern California), and went to college at the Art Institute of CA – Sacramento where I got a full-ride scholarship for a bachelor’s degree in Web Design. From there, I continued my career in web design only to find that it’s not what truly made me happy. So, I did something about it.
Enter Nuinspiration: the brand that I created with some influence from my now fiancé, who really pushed me to run this business because it’s truly what makes me happy. I created the brand myself from scratch; the name, the logo, brand messaging, the website, and even down to the marketing efforts. After doing all this, I left my career in web design completely to pursue my passion and make something of myself in the LA area.
With Nuinspiration, I help men look sharp and feel great in their wardrobes, and give them the confidence to succeed in their everyday lives. This is done with assisted personal shopping trips, as well as measure them for custom, made-to-measure luxury menswear. It truly makes me happy to see when my clients are happy in their new clothing, and how excited they get about wearing clothes that fit better, look better, and make them feel better. This is what makes me want to get out of bed every day, and I wouldn’t be anywhere without it.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The day job. This has been the primary struggle. While it paid the bills every month, it continuously made me unhappy. I was a cube-dweller, and was always stuck inside the office, and I felt I needed to be outside meeting and talking to new people constantly. I’m an extrovert, and talking with people energizes me, so staring at a computer screen for 8+ hours per day for something I’m no longer passionate about is very unfulfilling.
Nuinspiration – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
As previously mentioned, I help men look sharp and feel great in their wardrobes, and give them the confidence to succeed in their everyday lives.
One of the biggest things that sets me apart is that I’m a male stylist in a predominantly female profession. Most stylists are women, and help mostly women. I aspire to be a celebrity stylist, but for the time being, I help every day guys look their best. Fashion advice coming from another man for most men can oftentimes be much more comfortable, and at the same time, I can honestly sympathize with most issues men face with clothing that doesn’t fit, and I know firsthand what it’s like to shop for menswear. I know what challenges men face when it comes to clothing, and I can earnestly help them along as a friend would, not just a consultant hired to make them look better.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as a happy customer; a guy who had a problem and I helped him solve it. Whether it’s a complete wardrobe makeover or not, as long as I was there for him and helped him feel more confident with what he’s wearing, I consider that a success.
