Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexi Chow.
Lexi, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After leaving New York and the world of publicity 7 years ago, I decided to plant my roots in Los Angeles. I wanted to live a fit lifestyle that embraced, clean and healthy living including developing my own product line that was environmentally clean. I have always been a fragrance and candle connoisseur. I saw increased demand in innovations for new and eco-friendly luxury home fragrances and I wanted to be a part of that footprint. It was a bold move into the home fragrance industry. It was uncharted territory for me to expand from public relations to become a competitor in the luxury market.
After several years of research and months of testing, I finally created my own line of coconut wax-based, luxury candles in 2015. SCENE Candele di Lusso (Luxury Candle) also embodies the art of fine fragrance and design. I wanted to learn the industry so that I could have the upper hand in sourcing my own material and fragrances. I took some time to learn olfaction and develop my knowledge of fragrance building and notes. Being in LA has been a transformative journey not only professionally but spiritually.
Has it been a smooth road?
I am grateful for the obstacles along the way and there were quite a few (lol). Life challenges have been an obstacle running a business solely which requires self-discipline. Some days I have absolutely no creativity and I have to tune out the noise and recalibrate.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with SCENE Candele – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
SCENE Candele Di Lusso is a Los Angeles based female owned and operated company. I started with three fragrances 4-5 years ago ode to the cities that I drew my inspiration and molded me – Miami, New York, and Los Angeles. When creating SCENE, I envisioned a contemporary interpretation of nostalgic characteristics of pairing each city with a fragrance weaved with bold and sophisticated feminine and masculine contrasts. My best seller was “Los Angeles” which is my favorite melody of Cassis, Persian Jasmine, and Floral accords.
In 2019, I relaunched a “Los Angeles” collection of 5 new fragrances ode to neighborhoods around LA. This collection is my personal interpretation of scents that represent what the city of Los Angeles means to me. Each fragrance has its distinct charm and character. My latest collection is fresh, green, woodsy, floral and rich and I love that you can pair them together. I like to burn No. 056 (Fig) and No. 614 (Tuberose) together they both smell amazing together. I am super proud of this new collection as every candle is handled with precision from the design, to fragrance creation and hand pouring of each glass. I pride myself on the love and care that goes into each piece.
Everything is designed in-house by me. I try to give my customers a personal touch with each purchase and I absolutely love working with our consumers directly to meet their gifting needs. SCENE Candele is also an advocate for candle care as many people have been burning wrong all their lives and so was I (lol). It’s always best to keep your wicks trimmed to 1/4″ to prevent smoking and prolong the life of your candle. You can learn more on my website at www.scenecandele.com
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Los Angeles, it’s a melting pot of cultures! There is no single neighborhood quite alike. I love the charming characteristic each neighborhood has to offer, the good, the bad, and the ugly. There is beauty in imperfection too. I dislike our homeless epidemic, it makes me sad. I wish I could give every homeless person a room with shelter and get them rehabilitation that they so desperately need.
