Meet Society Fit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Society Fit.

Society Fit was born during the pandemic, helping people find motivation & fitness ideas as gyms closed down. The three of us – Savanna, Sierra and Devon – are sisters and best friends. The three of us have always wanted a way to work together and knew we shared two passions – fitness and events. When the pandemic first hit, we could no longer go to the gym which not only meant we weren’t keeping up with our physical/fitness goals but we also missed the social side of going to the gym, doing ClassPass classes with our friends, etc. We started offering weekly park workouts where people were invited to our neighborhood to do socially distanced combo workouts – hiit, lightweights, toning AND yoga. We have primarily taken a more virtual stance through the lockdowns with our Instagram account and zoom classes, training and workouts, but are eager to get back into real-life events. Our virtual platform has helped us reach people from West Coast to East Coast and everywhere in between. We’ve built a community who follows our workouts, joins our virtual and live exercise events, & participates in our monthly challenges. Our goal is to make workouts and exercise accessible, approachable and to help hold the community accountable.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Our initial inspiration was to offer real-life fitness events, but with COVID it wasn’t really possible. We have become mostly virtual which has slowed down the customized special events side, but it has given us more time to work on the exercises and challenges. Growing a following has been slow, but we are always so excited when we hear from someone that they always go to our page to find their next workout, or they do our workouts every week, or they are committed to our challenges, etc. It really helps us feel like we are making a difference!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Savanna: I am a certified group fitness instructor. I have done every workout class you can ever imagine and I love them all! I love the energy that group fitness brings to each workout and I love the accountability that the other athletes bring to each other. Most importantly, I am passionate about helping people feel ownership with their workouts and allowing fitness to be routine in their lives – a happy routine, not a routine that they dread! I have worked with many personal training clients and my favorite part is seeing them get excited and see results and be able to continue crushing their goals on their own. All of this ties into creating these group fitness events where everyone feels empowered and motivated to have a great workout and to create a routine in their lives. My workouts are different in that I get bored easily – so the more variety, the better! I play around with different workout formats (AMRAP – as many rounds as possible, EMOM – every minute on the minute, TABATA – high-intensity interval training, Ladders, full-body workouts, muscle group workouts, and more)!

Devon: I have always been a seeker. I grew up feeling a connection to spirituality; knowing there is so much beyond this existence, and yoga allowed me to further explore that inner knowing. I dabbled in yoga throughout my teens and early twenties but truly made it my own when I started a program through Karma Yoga Center while living in Colorado in 2019. I was searching for more: a deeper sense of myself and my relationships; asking myself, “How can I be a giver and a healer?” For me, yoga is the journey towards aligning the mind, body and soul. I am very intentional about breathwork and leading you through a Vinyasa Style flow. My goal is to guide you to align your inner world so that we can all be the best expression of ourselves in our outer world.

Sierra: I love creativity, colors and beautiful views! Along with my love for fitness, I enjoy being the eye behind the design for Society Fit’s social media along with producing our videos, creating soundtracks, and more. With a background in digital design and social media, I wanted to figure out the best branding for our vision – who we want to be and who we want to attract. I love finding fun and unique ways to engage with our following, keeping our content current and timely.

What are your plans for the future?
We are excited to continue growing our online community and then start to branch out into different group events. We’ve started 2021 with some fun virtual events – joining other groups from a self-love group based in Oklahoma to a religious group based in Colorado. We were most recently the instructor-of-the-month for Rose Fitness based in Orange County, CA. We love when groups invite us in to bring fitness/yoga to them. Especially during a crazy pandemic year, we can’t wait to bring that socialization to everyone through fitness!
