Meet Saul Rasco of Press Studios in DTLA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Saul Rasco.

Saul, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m originally from a small town outside of Dallas, Texas where I spent most of my life up until after my undergrad at Southern Methodist University. After that, I moved to NYC without much of a plan or knowing many people. It was kind of on a whim / out of boredom, but I knew I had to make a big change to find out what I really wanted to do in life, career, etc. My first year there, I randomly took an internship in the PR department of Gucci. I had zero clue on anything fashion-related which in the end helped. I was eager and excited to learn a completely new industry in one of the biggest fashion labels in the world. While I was there, I met a lot of influential people in the industry but not knowing much of the business and who they were, I never came off as intimidated which helped a lot with first impressions. Towards the end of my stint there, I met the Creative Director of GQ and some of the editors who invited me to the magazines office to discuss possible opportunities. I was offered a paid closet assistant role which was super exciting but realizing I’d just be tucked in the back handling clothes, I asked if there was anything else available. The editor I was interviewing with said we only have an unpaid job as the Creative Directors assistant. Of course, after watching Devil Wears Prada a million times, I knew that was the position for me.

After a few months, I was all consumed with fashion and the industry and at that point learned so much more than I ever thought. I was offered a full-time position and at the time, I was the Creative Director’s longest-running assistant. While at the magazine, I started my fashion blog which leads me to where I am today as the Founder and Creative Director of Press Studios. I learned while working full-time as fashion influencer, there were tons of brands that needed help with content creation. At Press Studios, we are a full-service content production and social media office with retainer clients like BTL SVC, a premium ready to drink cocktails brand, and Poppi, a prebiotic soda that got it’s claim to fame from being on Shark Tank and securing a massive investor on the show. We do everything for brands creative including photography, videography, graphic, design, and social media management. It’s been a crazy journey that I’ve come to through some real hand experience from some of the best in the business. I really can’t wait to see where Press Studios will go. We’ve grown so fast in the last year and I know we’re moving in the right direction and ready to bring on even more clients with my growing team of creatives.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not. I had no idea what I wanted to do. All I knew was that I was a creative person with lots of ambition and was ready to learn from whatever path came my way. Living in NYC really is a struggle. Especially coming from such a small town, the lights and building and people can be overwhelming. Not to mention rent prices that were probably five times as much as I ever heard anyone paying. Every time I stumbled, I learned and made sure I didn’t make the same mistakes. Even now, Press Studios is only a year old and I learn something new from my clients every week. I was primarily just a photographer learning by way of just using a camera constantly as a blogger. Now through my list of client’s needs, I’ve learned some huge skills like video editing, graphic design, and even motion graphic design. YouTube is always a big help.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Press Studios – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Press Studios is a boutique content creation and management studio. We have primarily been working in the beverage industry but also have cosmetic brands and even some talent/model agencies we work with. We are basically the remote creative team for brands and help them pack their calendars with unique content that is engaging for social media. Be it photography, videography, graphic design, or even brand, we cover a wide scope.

I’m most proud of being able to see our work published. Not just on our brands social media but through TV commercials, billboards, and magazines. I always love seeing our vision come to life and bring these brands to life through media.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We just opened our studio in DTLA which I’m super excited for. Of course once this insane time passes with the pandemic. I’m proud to have kept my employees all on staff. We all work remotely which is a big change for now but since we are all creatives, everyone knows what their most strong with so we are still able to deliver our brand’s content needs every week.

Once this is all over though, I’m excited to bring on some new brands and employees. We’ve even been reaching out to some really exciting LA-based brands that we’ve been loving and offering our expertise for free for the month of April. A lot of brands are struggling right now, especially in the beverage industry. If we can help with content needs, especially with new brands, we are offering free photography and graphic design content as well as any consulting needs for creative work.
