Meet Sarah Taub of Fig & Whiskey in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Taub.

Sarah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Fig & Whiskey began as a collaboration between two friends who worked together in production design for film and television. We (Kristina and I) met as part of the art department for a feature film. We had an instant rapport and shared a vision for bringing stories to life through design. After a few years of working together in production, we decided to carry our skills over to event design. It was a natural extension of our abilities, and we grew our small business into a much larger project than we had originally expected, booking nearly a dozen weddings in our first year. Through these events, we discovered that as much as we loved our partnership, we needed to support each other’s separate passions: Kristina’s heart was in her work on set and mine was in event design. Still the best of friends, we regularly consult each other when we want to explore an interesting idea or spark inspiration for something beautiful.

Under my direction, the growing team of creative mavens that make up Fig & Whiskey shares a passion for entertaining and a love of interactive design.

Drawing on our backgrounds in film, photography, decorating, styling and design, we have spent the last six years creating fun, inspiring, curated events that showcase our keen eye for composition and detail that simultaneously creates innovative settings and speaks the magic of your story.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting a business is never an easy feat. Learning the nuances of running a company took time and effort because I was starting from scratch. I have found that as I continue to move forward I only improve and grow in this new venture. One of the biggest struggles was taking the plunge from full-time production work to full time hustling for Fig & Whiskey. What started as a side project became the center of all my attention but the transition can be a scary move when you don’t know what to expect.

Fig & Whiskey – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
At Fig & Whiskey, we believe that every happy occasion, no matter the size is an opportunity for celebration. We seek to enhance your celebrations in ways that will be magical in the moment and memorable for years to come. With our background in film and television, we have learned how to create your story and bring it to life in an event that represents you.

Our customized, a la carte approach to event planning and design enables us to assist our clients across a wide spectrum of styles, wishes, values and budgets. Whether your event is for five or five hundred, funky or fancy, casual or colossal, Fig & whiskey is dedicated to producing an authentic, unforgettable event that is personal and unique to you.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
At the end of the night, when clients come up to me and tell me how happy they are, that they had an amazing time and don’t want the night to be over- that is my definition of success.

I do also have a few venue goals that I am looking forward to achieving. I’m looking at you Fig House. 😉
