Meet Sarah Agajanian of Rock N’ Brows + Makeup in Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Agajanian.

Sarah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Originally I am an art major who fell into doing makeup at the age of 17, I continued to move into esthetics and discovered the “art of brow”. Everyone wanted me to do their brows and makeup and I walked forward into that direction. I attended a seminar in NYC where I met Damone Roberts the king of BROWS (he used me as an eyebrow model) and from there I moved to LA from SD to work for him. 7 years in, I decided to go off on my own for I needed my freedom and to make my own hours so I could pursue my music life AND take care of my clients. Rock N’ Brows + Makeup was a name I came up with which collided my love for beauty and my life of music.

It was a scary jump moving 700 clients but I am continuously busy and I adore my clients. It has been 4 years now being a BOSS LADY, wouldn’t have it any other way.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not a smooth road at ALL! Just coming to LA from SD, I was broke and staying on couches to get on my feet to work under the industries best of the best at the age of 20. It took sacrifice.

When I went out on my own, it was the scariest thing I have done…

Beverly Hills is cut throat and really not aligned with my authenticity. I bounced a few times from one rental space within a hair salon to the next. I spent a lot of money on lawyers etc. and apologizing to my clients and promising them I would find the right space to work out of! I have high standards of professionalism and beauty within a salon, I also do not put up with toxic energy and drama in my work environment. I had to learn by doing, file the right taxes, licenses, contracts and discover what I truly wanted for me and my browtiful clientele.

I eventually found the perfect salon (Rossano Ferretti Hairspa) which took persistence to get in that door. One would think with tons of clients and celebrities it wouldn’t be that difficult BUT as an artist and business woman it’s hard to find the perfect fit…I learned it DOES exist. Never give up.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Rock N’ Brows + Makeup story. Tell us more about the business.
Well Rock N’ Brows + Makeup is my brand in which I operate beauty services under. I specialize in eyebrow sculpting, makeup application, lash services and micro blading. I am known for the FULL NATURAL BROW, I believe less is more AND our brows thin out the older we get. I like to think I had something to do with the bold brow trend considering I’ve been diving into it for 11 years now locally.

I am proud that I am a small independent company that provides a service that makes my clients feel and look beautiful, I truly care and I do not have a greedy eye. I only sell what I think is necessary and I don’t LIVE to WORK, I work so I can LIVE. I am very involved in the music and beauty scene in Los Angeles, I am an artist, singer/songwriter and makeup artist along being an established eyebrow expert. I don’t believe in the confines of society and I do not follow many rules as far as what we have been told about money & success. I do everything MY WAY, and have major respect for my client’s time. I always show up, unless I’m SUPER SICK.

I think what sets me apart from others is the way I have set the whole thing up in the first place, I am also not a slave to social media…. I have too many brows in my chair to post all the time.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck or divinity caught me in a place where I met the one who trained me by him picking me out of a crowd at seminar as a brow model that was luck. I show up though, that is the most important thing. Even when you don’t have clients on the books, you show up…. they always follow suit.

I don’t believe in bad luck, I just think sometimes you have to learn the hard way in life and many little failures always insure success in the end. Intuition has pushed me towards my path of success and creativity.

I always envision my success or goals; they never turn out exactly what you think BUT they do eventually come true….

Do the work, do the work and do the work. Staying positive and asking for guidance always helps me, I am still doing it.
