Meet Sara Garofalo of Love Holistic Living

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Garofalo.

Sara, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all began when I was 16 years old. I started having issues with my body. I was suffering from bulimia and gaining weight, which is an unusual situation. I was totally lost and unhappy at that time of my life but then my mom took me to a dietitian to help me lose weight. I went further the other way and lost too much weight to the point where I was looking “too skinny” and It was starting to take a toll on me: I had no energy, I was counting calories all day every day and was obsessed with food.

Two years later, I was eighteen and started to see the light. Battling with the constant pressure to fit perfectly in society, I had committed my last year of high school to myself and myself only…I was in my final training to receive my black belt in Karate, studying intensively three different languages six days a week (with only one day off), working during weekends and spending time with my friends & family when I could. My determination and strength came from my dream to travel and see the world. And so I did.

I traveled to America woofing at organic farms, trading labor in exchange for room, board and experience. I then went to Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and about four years ago, I ended up in California. Through my journey, I became a vegetarian and lived in an ashram for a while where I practiced meditation for most part of the day. I started learning about Ayurveda and successively, I found myself studying it. I learnt about my body type and what food is right for me. I got in touch with my body once again after years of struggling with different diets, I finally started accepting my body and made peace with it.

At age 25 I was suffering from low energy, chronic fatigue, chronic bloating and I would wake up every morning with pain along my spinal cord.

I felt old in a young body.

I finally decided to see a well-known doctor in the area who helped me realize I was suffering from severe inflammation together with leaky gut syndrome.

Suddenly It all made sense. All the symptoms I had suffered in years had an answer…but at the same time, I could not believe my ears…how could it happen to me?

I changed my diet, I overcame my body image and now the root cause of all my symptoms was leaky gut? My small intestine was not working, therefore, I was not absorbing nutrients. I thought I was healthy by living a gluten-free, plant-based diet with lots of broccoli, kale and spinach every day…but little did I know that my gut needed extra help. My real journey and passion started then.

I changed my diet, I took natural supplements to help restore my tissues, I educated myself about this topic and read tons of articles and books and I finally turned to WHOLE FOODS.

I cut down gluten, dairy, processed food, processed sugar, the food I was intolerant to and made sure my daily diet was wholesome and rich in nutrients.

My pain disappeared in less than two weeks and within a month, I felt completely rejuvenated. I cannot tell you how this feels. But I can tell you this: It is why I am so passionate about health and wellness. Not because it’s a trend but because I believe we can heal from within.

I then started to study the mind, body and soul connection, different Eastern modalities and how to combine modern science with ancient knowledge.

When I was pregnant with my second child, I enrolled in a program to become a health coach. I knew that was my calling. But what kind of a health coach? The market is pretty saturated these days.

I was born and raised in Italy so I am very passionate about food and a healthy lifestyle. Due to my own journey with my body and food, I decided to create a business that supports women in healing their relationship with food, ditching the diet, healing holistically through the mind, body, soul connection. I believe you cannot separate one from the other and I wanna be able to help women heal from a poor diet to subconscious roadblocks and traumas stored in the body.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road. I decided to build my business, which is my life purpose, after going through a divorce and a pandemic while taking care of my two young children.

It hasn’t been easy but building this business and being in service has been profoundly healing for my own personal journey that I am so proud of where I am today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Love Holistic Living?
My mission is to spiritually awaken women to break unhealthy and subconscious patterns and become more intuitive about their body through a sustainable holistic approach. By incorporating mind, body and soul to heal from suffering, Love Holistic Living helps women claim spiritual weight loss and spiritual awakening and find the most healthy and authentic versions of themselves.

I combine different modalities to help women unleash their own healing power. Thanks to my Italian culture, my healthy recipes carry the knowledge and taste of traditional Italian cuisine. Intertwining my understanding in Ayurveda brings a totally holistic approach to my coaching practice. In addition, my education in Regenerating Images in Memory (RIM) equips me with a powerful tool for transforming experiences that are causing mental, emotional, behavioral, social, motivational, physical and spiritual problems.

With my Intuitive Gifts and Healing sessions, I have been helping women heal from the deepest traumas and roadblocks stored in the body that are preventing them from becoming the healthiest version of themselves.

My offerings vary from healing sessions to help you release traumas and/or roadblocks that are preventing you from moving forward in life to transformational 3-6 months programs with me.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was very adventurous, fiery, determined and independent. I was often shy with new people and reserved, but I‘d warm up once I got to know them.

I was definitely a sensitive child with an inner trust toward spirituality, which is different from being religious. I was very much into sports, art, music, history and writing.
