Meet Sandy K. López of Poetic Photographer in Santa Monica

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandy K. López.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sandy. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
Sure. It all started with my passion for art and poetry that stemmed from a young and tender age. In fact, I can even remember the times during elementary school when our art historian presented an array famous artists and their works every month; and through that, I discovered my love for soft and elegant expression.

I’ve always been emotional & sensitive being and I was hungry to find artists that produced works that were similar to how I viewed life. From Greek sculptures to avant-garde couture designers, to Mozart, to Shakespeare. I was simply enchanted by dreamy and romantic art in whatever medium that I could find. And when I wasn’t basking in other people’s art, I was creating my own to satisfy the craving I had of viewing bliss in a physical form. Therefore, I’d find myself painting, sewing, practicing the violin or flute, writing and photographing as a means to extend the whimsical world that I was engaged to.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road was not always smooth for me, but I cherish my hardships and honor them. My hardships are part of my value and part of why I am humbled & sensitive. I wouldn’t have the work that I created if it weren’t for all of those trials and errors that I endured. I wouldn’t have had the tears that dripped through my pen and nor would I have had photographs that have moved and inspired people across the globe. —

So yes, I did in fact struggle but I wouldn’t have victory without it.

Poetic Photographer – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Well, my intention in my work is to tantalize the spirit through your eyes with a cocktail of emotions that I pour into every step of my process.

In fact, shooting with me is an experience that some have described as awe-inspiring and perhaps even life enriching in a sweet and unexpected way. It’s an experience that is not everyone is used to since it involves undressing your ego for the nature inner light to shine through. An experience where your vulnerability is honored and even required for a shoot with me.
