Meet Sally Mae of Sally’s Strands in MD

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sally Mae.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a student in school, I would always come in with a new hairstyle every week or two. Simply because I would get bored. And to this day, I still am like that. After a while, I decided to pick it up as a hobby and save some money by learning to do my own hair. I’ve always been into hair for as long as I can remember. Been doing hair for over ten years now. But it was only recently, about three years ago, that I decided to take myself more seriously and become confident in my craft. And through the years, I’ve grown immensely and learned a lot, mainly through trial and error. I look forward to what the future holds for Sally’s Strands.

Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely has not been a smooth road. There’s been a lot of disappointments, a lot of money and time wasted, and a lot of sleepless nights. But in the end, I regret nothing because they were all learning experiences.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Sally’s Strands – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I don’t live in LA. But I love living in the East Coast. Maryland is where I call home. I would love to someday live out in LA or Atlanta though because there are more opportunities out there and way more people willing to show support. Here on the East Coast, not a lot of things are taken too seriously. And to find genuine support is sometimes challenging. A person’s talent can easily be overlooked here in Maryland.
