Today we’d like to introduce you to Salina Telfort.
Salina, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a well rounded Artist devoted to my many talents. I am Haitian American. I was born and raised in Miami Florida with my six siblings, Mother and Father. Growing up I began performing as a rapper singer in a kids group called “Group Project”. Performing all over Miami grew my interest in other talents. I then began training in dance at the age of six. My training in Ballet, Contemporary, Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Tap Techniques took off. After years of Growing to love Performing as a whole, I began working at dance studios, Choreographing, and creating a competition team at my school “Dillard high school of the arts” which I both choreographed and performed in all by the age of 15. Not having the opportunity to really put my work out their; other than competing wasn’t fulfilling for me. So, my junior year of high school I did an early audition to some performing arts colleges, upon being accepted this led me to take online classes and graduate high school a year early. After being accepted into The American Musical Dramatic Academy I packed my things at the age of eighteen and moved to Los Angeles CA to further my training while being able to put more work out in a city that has opportunity for Artist. I am currently going into my senior year working towards my BFA in performing arts.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being young and having goals is honestly never a smooth ride. Throughout my college experience I have been a Full-Time student while having a part-time job and working part time on performance Jobs all while learning to pay bills and properly care for myself. Being an Aspiring artist is a full-time investment. I have to put in the hard work to accomplish my goals. I Model, Dance, Rap, and Choreograph and intend to share content in all my many forms.
Please tell us about your work.
My name is Salina Telfort I like to be known as SAL (soloandloved). I am an Artist full of many talents. I am well known for performing Dance technique styles of Modern, Jazz, Hip-hop, Contemporary, Ballet, Heels, and Broadway. I specialize in Choreographing for studios and Music Videos. I am an aspiring Model yet As an Artist I also sing and rap and I’m looking forward to dropping my first EP at the end of this summer. What I believe that sets me apart from others is the pride I take in my diversity and my determination. We are always told what we can and can’t do but nothing will stop me from putting out all of my content in all the fields I choose to. I’m most proud that through all doubt I’m out here chasing every dream my heart wants and setting my own journey.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Over the many years I have encountered what some to say is bad luck. Through my journey when bad things happen it actually elevates me into putting in more work to better myself. I continuously try to learn from my mistakes and those around me mistakes. But luck will not have control over my life Within the next five to ten years i see myself thriving traveling the world continuously creating new content for people. Inspiring many through my work. Empowering the youth to not subject themselves to a single label, yet going out and making a living with all your heart desires. I would also like to add to the change in standards of Black Women being multi successful.
