Meet Saira Gallo and Kate Marie Sigfusson of Babies4Babies in Orange County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Saira Gallo and Kate Marie Sigfusson.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Babies4Babies is a niche line of ethically and artfully made Bassinet to Beach™ blankets that our founder, Kate, started while pregnant with her first baby about four years ago. The idea of creating a product in an ethical way instead of the cheapest and then giving away part of profits to mothers in need didn’t necessarily make the most business sense at the time, but she knew that mothers would love the product and the meaning behind it.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think any business or career really has a smooth road. We’ve had a handful of struggles and continue to have them. The biggest being the cost of production because of our dedication to ethical production within the United States. Quality control is extremely important to us, which is why we’ve actually had to shift manufacturer’s a few times, leading to a couple of hiccups.

Babies4Babies – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Babies4Babies is a niche textile brand that creates fashion forward Bassinet to Beach™ blankets. We are known for our dedication to ethical production and the amazing artwork we print on our blankets with non-toxic ink. We also provide a safe birth and newborn essentials kit to a refugee mother with every purchase.

We are most proud of the fact that we have stepped foot inside the factories we work with ourselves. From start to finish, we know that everyone involved in the process of bringing these blankets to your home is treated fairly. What sets us apart from any other blanket out there is that we are produced right here in the United States, and you won’t find our artwork anywhere else.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
One of our proudest moments was when of our favorite ethical brands (Amour Vert) reached out to us about carrying our brand in their stores.
