Meet Sage Weeber

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sage Weeber.

Sage, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Born in Illinois, I started playing drums at the age of seven. Taking it seriously by the age of nine and recording my first album in 6th grade. When I was 14 years old, I started touring the US with various Punk/Ska bands in the Midwest area. From 14-17 years old, I started producing records, touring four months out of the year and was playing up to 200 shows a year.

In 2016, after graduating High School, I moved to LA completely on my own without knowing anybody. I started attending Musicians Institute and quickly found work in the city of Los Angeles. By the time I was 19, I had worked with Capitol Records, Ty Dolla $ign, various Disney Music Video Directors, YouTubers, and more. During this time I had gotten a Signature Stick with Regal Tip Drumsticks, achieved my Associates Degree at Musician’s Institute, and performed on the very last Vans Warped Tour.

At 20 years old, I’m about to embark on a two month long Full US/Canada Tour in Jan-Feb. Achieve my Bachelor’s Degree at Musicians Institute and complete over 100+ shows around the world.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road along this journey has not been the smoothest. Being only 20 years old, the main struggle I’ve had is finding work that people take you seriously off the bat with.

Meaning, because I’m so young, people question my experience and say no right away without seeing my playing or even meeting me first.

Also, financially it’s very hard to find consistent work as a drummer/producer being so young. I can’t get into 21+ shows to network, go to 21+ jam nights, or even have meetings with older business workers in certain situations because of my age.

My #1 difficulty along this journey has to have been moving to Hollywood when I was 17 and not knowing a single person. I had to network on my own and figure out my career as I learned and grew as an individual.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I am a Drummer and a Producer. I do free-lance drumming for tours, sessions, and video work. For producing, I work with many Pop artists, Hip-Hop artists, and Rock/Alternative artists.

I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve been able to create a successful career completely on my own!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The important quality and characteristic I feel is the most important to my success is my work ethic. From the moment I wake up, to the moment I go to bed, I do absolutely everything I can to take my career to the next step!

I want to give 100% of my potential to my career, and if 1,000 people want my dream, I have to believe I’m going to be the one that gets it.
