Meet Saeed Renaud of Tha Authors in Los Feliz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Saeed Renaud.

Saeed, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started singing at the age of six. I knew instantly that what I was born to do so I started writing and singing everywhere I could. Fast forward to my teens I gravitated to Groups Because I didn’t think that I was the ideal “look” that the “Music industry” was looking for. Being in groups had good and bad benefits. The Good was it taught me how to teach others and gave me patience because being by yourself you know what you want but being with others who may not take things as serious as you help you think of the bigger picture which is the Team. The Bad was having to push everyone to practice, write, etc. Sometimes leaving me to do all the work but even in that it helped perfect my vocal producing and studio recording skills. So I guess it all was a blessing in disguise. Didn’t know it then but I see it now.

After the groups failed, I started to focus on writing. I would hustle writing for Artist in my area and vocal coach. Fast forward, I met my writing and business partner Fields “Iz” Blanchard Jr. We were writing great songs for signed and unsigned artist. We were coming to LA so much we randomly decided to stay. Though we struggled for years here we received awards and nominations which kept us working. Not to mention years later, everything would come full circle for me. Everything I taught my group and students, I was able to Display on The Four on Fox. Restoring the confidence I once had in myself. Helping me to realize there is a place for me in this industry.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s definitely been a struggle because when music is all you do getting compensated for it is Imperative. But a lot of time ppl would say they gonna pay you and don’t, Promise you things that never come to pass, and Benefit off the work you’ve done while you’re left to figure out how not to get your lights cut off, Pay your rent, And Get something to eat. I call it Pimping my gift that’s what happened often in the early years. There’s been days where I didn’t have food to eat and I didn’t know where my rent was coming from and I would just pray to God like “listen… I know you didn’t bring me all the way from Brooklyn New York to Suffer. I need you to make the impossible happen or if it’s not meant for us (Me and My writing partner Iz) to be in LA Make everything we have crumble….. that was my prayer for three years straight I’m going on seven years here so I’m beyond grateful.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Tha Authors story. Tell us more about the business.
My writing Partner and I started Tha Authors our writing team. We’re known for writing with Great artist like Lalah Hathaway, Dorinda Clark Cole, The Clark Sisters, etc. We are most proud of our Grammy for “Lalah Hathaway Live” and Bmi Award for Dorinda Clark Cole “Bless this House”. I think what sets us apart is collectively we can write any genre of music from RnB, Gospel, Pop, to Reggae. We are definitely musical caterers. We tailor your song to you by telling your story.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Music is Great! But in the next few years, I see a shift for us. We’re definitely interested in doing more TV, Commercial, and Stage Play work. And I personally have a goal to be in more Tv and stage plays as well as to receive a Grammy for my own music. New Album Saeed “Two Sides” out Now!!! #ShamelessPlug 😂😂😂
