Meet Sacaar Williams of Showcat Goldstrand Filmworks in Downtown Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sacaar Williams.

Sacaar, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
At the age of ten, I was introduced to what revealed itself to be my life’s passion. I was afforded an opportunity to produce a full stage production along with my peers, through an enrichment program at my grade school. It was in the moments of writing the play, composing the music, designing costumes and constructing sets that I was struck with realization. I AM A STORYTELLER. Having this revelation at such a young age was invigorating. And it is through that same vigor that I have dedicated my life to telling stories. I am a filmmaker. I am a photographer. I am a music producer. I am an artist. But above all, I AM A STORYTELLER.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Having discovered so early in my life what I wanted birthed a desire of expedience to manifest. This is a desire to which life does not always respond favorably. So, naturally my path has felt to be a bit circuitous. It took me some time to accept that the beauty is in the route and not necessarily in the arrival. The arrival is elusive, while the journey to get there is ever unfolding. When my course feels roundabout, I settle myself and allow the beauty of the path to enrich and inspire me.

Please tell us about Showcat Goldstrand Filmworks.
Showcat Goldstrand Filmworks is a production company that I founded in 2012 out of the necessity to exhibit my artistic sensibilities as a creator. Be it through photography, cinematography or music composition, Showcat Goldstrand is known for striking the senses with grit, poignancy, and authenticity. Through collaboration with like-minded producers, artists, and creators, Showcat Goldstrand has become synonymous with dynamic stories told with beautiful sights and sounds.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I’ve come too far in my journey to judge previous choices. What I’ve done up to this point has brought me precisely to where I am today. And I quite like where I am. No do-overs needed.
